Hi All

Does anyone know where i can source a couple of 14s BMs's or chargers. Im looking for a simple plug and play system to make charging my lipos slightly easyer.

Any help is much appreciated. :D

Yeah i have to agree with 14s being rare but isnt a 14s setup a perfect choice for a 48v ebike setup?

Im currently using 2x 6s 5ah zippys and a 2s 5ah zippy all wired in series.

to charge i disconect them from series and connect to 2 turnigy accucell 6 and an imax b6 (copy) as single cells.

this is ok for me as i know what im doing but one of my friends wants the same setup and im just trying to find a simpler way of charging them.

ive run 14s setup for a while now as 12s kept cutting out on my controller via the low voltage cutoff. (way before the batteries were discharged)

the 14s setup cuts the cells off perfectly and is backed up by 2x 8s hobbyking battery monitors that start beeping when the cells reach 3.3v each.

Although it is only 50V hot off the charger, a lot of people run 12S as an equivalent to 48V, but you are right it is less. People just do that for ease of charging. If you are already running 14S and want to keep going, then you should get a Hyperion 1420i, and a power supply unit big enough to make use of the 550w potential, and then you could balance charge your whole 14S pack as a single pack, and then you don't really need a BMS (if you are regularly balance charging). If you do a search for Hyperion 1420i, you will see a whole thread dedicated to that charger. I use it, and it is a great charger. Can charge up to 14S as one pack, and can charge up to 550w.

hmm well as one of my turnigys is playing up i think im going to go with the hyperion.

I always balance charge.. not 100% nessciary but im in no rush so a slow balance charge is fine.

im using a 12v 600w power supply at the moment (hacked pc psu) which should do it :)

Thanks for you help and input. now to save up and get a hyperion :D

Yeah, 14s is kind of ideal for the max volts on a "48v" controller. But if the controller is really a 36v controller, then it won't have too high of an lvc to run 12 s beautifully.

See the review section for Icecube57's charging and series harness set. Pretty close to plug and play 12s if you don't balance charge. I was pretty impressed with how easy it made it. All you need is a cheap 6s charger.
