Anybody used one of these? Bit under-powered for the work I do, but might be good for capacity testing individual cells?

I use a 60w version of one. SUper common. Works great! I love the little thing! I can torture any cell I want! :bigthumb: :bigthumb: :bigthumb: Ready wh and ah for capacity! Pretty accurately too!

Smart fellow over at rcgroups says he thinks they can be paralleled for high capacity load testing

I actually ordered one two weeks ago here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/150W-Constant-Current-Electronic-Load-60V-10A-Battery-Discharge-Capacity-Tester-ammeter-voltage-meter/32725711985.html
Should arrive soon, it seems to be very accurate for the price.

Wouldn't your local BG be more reliable than an Ali vendor? I never feel like I know if I can trust them. . .

I bought one of these on ebay and ended up with a counterfeit unit. The voltage and current measurements were inaccurate to the point where it's useless as a tester for me. The counterfeit unit also has different software that doesn't allow calibration, I believe the original units can be calibrated.

In my case I was able to get a full refund from ebay. I still have this tester, but it hasn't been used. It might be ok for discharging battery packs for long term storage.

The Aliexpress vendor I linked sells the original unit according to a few forums/youtube videos and the reviews on aliexpress.
I'll let you known when I get mine, should be here in a week or so.

OK, but my question stands, as a general question about buying whatever chinese electronics.

If Banggood, or Mouser or Digikey have an item available, for a good price, isn't it true that is a better more reliable source than a "marketplace" service like eBay, Ali or the marketplace sections of Amazon?

Setting aside the price issue. . .

If you read the reviews on banggood it sounds like they're actually selling the fake unit lol.

No those have at least been verified as good, at least when  jj604 bought his dozen, he really knows his stuff.

These are unknown. https://m.banggood.com/8-In-1-150W180W-Digital-Battery-Capacity-Tester-Voltmeter-p-1248703.html

I put no weight on reviews at seller sites myself.

I'm surprised I've never seen anyone else using these: 150V 20A 300W CC/CV Electronic Load.

They don't seem to be consistently available on eBay but you can probably ask the seller to list them. They're still available (or at least some newer models) on the manufacturer's Taobao page.

Edit: sorry, the first time I read the OP I thought you were asking for recommendations.
