5 to 12 magnet pas conversion?

I have a Volton Alation 500, it has both right hand throttle and 5 level PAS, the PAS has a cadence sensor using a 5 magnet disc on the crank with sensor mounted to the frame, my issue is that the PAS requires about half a rotation of the crank before it responds. It is really easy to fill in this delay with the hand throttle since they can be used together but i'd like the system to work a bit smoother if possible. Does any one have know if simply changing the black disc with the 5 magnets to one with 12 magnets would improve the sensitivity (require less rotation before detection and activation)? I can get a 12 magnet disc and sensor (hopefully not have to change the sensor) off ebay for about $33 so if no one knows then I'll order it, experiment, and post my results.

Yes, changing to more poles means a better resolution.

But only if you can program the receiving end to compensate for the increased pole count

As far as I know, I have no way of programing the recieving end (controller?), i was hoping for a simple hardware swap solution. Thanks for your response

I'm no expert on PAS but since the magnet is a trigger it should respond quicker. My new PAS system has a 12 magnet ring and I am quite interested in your results.
