Seems like it might be a good deal; local Lowe's has an 80V, 2 ah Lithium battery with charger for about $170 with a free second battery. Bonus: you get a trimmer too.

My local hardware store has something similar, but not quite that cheap. If you could get the proper connectors for them, they'd be ideal!

Trimmers have gone to 80v? wow. 40v was the standard for the last few years.

80v 2 ah is only 160wh. But with a second charger and battery that's a decent deal.

Kobalt. http://www.lowes.com/pd_623439-53393-KST+140XB-06_1z0wgb3__?productId=50394838&pl=1

But that link is for the trimmer with one battery.

Promotion in SoCal with a coupon for free second battery. A friend purchased one yesterday (for trimming).

Does anyone know what kind of cells are in those Kobalt batteries? Two of them could be reconfigured into a 3p 13s 6ah pack. Light weight and there would be one cell left over as a spare.
I am currently in So Cal and my local Lowes store is advertising them at 199.00 with a coupon for the second battery.

Just picked up a kobalt 24v 2ah pack for $20. 41cents/watt hour. Seems like an ok price to throw together a pack. Cells are red and say: A TLL9RXD on them. Anybody know what they are? I'm going to do some discharge tests and see what the BMS board on them can handle. I figure that will give a general idea of how they want to be treated. Seems like the regular price.

In case anyone cares the kobalt drill pack cranked out peaks of 15amps at 20v on my toy razor scooter. Rode around at an average of 200watts for about 5min and the factory BMS never went into any thermal or overload condition.

So my conclusion is that somebody could throw together a cheap protected pack by just stacking these together unmodified.

With current prices of built packs its not a killer deal for a high powered setup. However, I'm quite satisfied with my $20 solution for the toy scooter or as an easy pack for some headlights.

i care, thanks for the info. how many cells inside? 6 or 7?

Hi all, I have built a pack out of these with 4 packs , each pack puts out 20 amps and the cells are rated at 20a .

They also allow parallel charging, so long as u connect the com cables on atleast one pack. Charging the packs at a more reasonable .5 C
