Arn't all motors used on ebikes outrunners asides from currie cans, charger/merida things and brushed direct drive hubs?

Hysterical laughter at the end of Vid no.2 = Nuff said !

That was awsome !!! thanks for sharing ! 8)

That laughing was quite wacky!

I'm curious what sort of clutch type thing was being used in that second video. The motors clearly spun up before the bike started moving, but then it soft-started quite well. Mechanically automatic or cable actuated? Perhaps the round bit sitting outboard of the motors and chain.

Anyone know?

It should be a centrifugal clutch. Might be good to use on a bike.

I absolutely love the kart videos, that thing flies.

The clutch in the 2nd video wasn't doing to well with the high rpm starts you can see lots of smoke from it in the beginning.
Kurt.

There are several types of clutches in kart racing. The most common is a Horstman wet clutch used in Yamaha 'sportsman' classes. Here's a link to some of them (including some dry models):

I've been involved in kart racing for several years and we've always gone through clutch disks like candy. Of course in a racing environment you're pushing everything to the limit but I'm not sure it would be a great clutch for a bike. They're fairly heavy and a bit overkill imho. But... With some of the power these outrunners are putting out I could see maybe using on on a motorcycle or scooter.

Could anyone make out the battery specifications at the end of the video? Were they up to spitting out the 390 amps that the motors could take?

Bubba
