That was pretty awesome
At first I didn't think it would work
Then he was riding around on it

I'm always impressed by poeple who are told something is "impossible" and go ahead and do it anyways. Cool bike!

Cool bike, not for e-biking.

We have issues with Aluminum not being strong enough in some cases, cardboard e-bike = deathtrap. Keep the paper under 15mph please.

Waterproof?

As impressive as it is, I think we need to move away from a throw-away society, not have more of it.

That's awesome. Thanks for sharing. Very impressive and hard to believe without seeing it in action.

Though it's perhaps a bit unpractical for durability compared to traditional metal, it's still great thinking outside of the box.

Or is it thinking about the box? This guy will do many more cool innovations in his lifetime. I remember a guy they once thought was crazy for wanting to make a non metalic airplane. His name was Rutan,,,, and his spacecraft are getting real close to selling rides now.

Along the same lines as the Rutan method, I reckon that just adding a thin skin of epoxy/glass (or maybe Kevlar or carbon) over that honeycomb cardboard would give a very strong, light and durable structure.

There were folks back in the 60's who were selling cardboard model planes. Fairly good size like 80-90 inch wingspans. They would just coat the board with uretlhane varnish. Jeremy's idea is one step better! Neat! I think they use coroplast now but it is hard to glue.

Amazing :) thankyou for posting this, it is a fascinating idea with a lot of potential

A VEVA friend proposed a cardboard EV contest for our annual show. A time & material limited contest like the cardboard boats. Might be a little more dangerous than the boats when they fall apart. Also would require creativity in wheel attachment. The best thing about our old "REV" shows was the high school electrathon races. There was always at least one incident of a run away wheel to add excitement.

You don't think this bike could use some "Puffy" brand LiPos?

This is another project where the builder went to extremes to show what is possible. It would probably be better placed if it was in the DIY composites frame thread. I don't think cardboard / epoxy is horrible, but...maybe better suited as a matrix for a fairing, or battery panniers?

Cardboard bikes and boats are a staple of college students.

My favorite is when they make a working chain from cardboard.
