Whilst surfin the web I came across this cheap electric kit, only 12volt but the setup with the belt drive looked neat and for 390euro all inclusive sounded plausible for a europe legal entry level kit. Web site is in German hence the translator page.

Merry Christmas and a safe new year to all Sphere members.

Interesting, but probably terribly slow and the drive mechanism will limit you putting more power to it in the future. I don't like that drive mechanism to begin with.. putting power to the middle of the spokes sounds like a bad idea. Good for gas motors since they don't have a lot of torque.. bad for electric because 100% of torque is delivered at very low rpm.

Face it, you may have to become a lawbreaker to get any real performance :/

Very true, 20 MPH 1000W or less really doesn't exist, gotta have something that puts out closer to 1200W+ and goes 23 MPH+ to make it give you the same performance in real world conditions.

Don't assume that belt drive is a dog just because it's 12V, I mean I am running 14-15V on my set-up now (LiPo is a world of a difference of course assuming they are using SLA) and with all the current I can draw, it's getting me 1300W, 23+ MPH. :)

I would not even give €39 for it.
Pure junk.

And their description of why its better than a hub motor is comedy.
"d.h. mehrere Akkus in Serie notwendig - meist Probleme damit! >>>==> i.e. multiple batteries in series necessary - mostly trouble!"
