Alternative to the Bionx 36V charger?

I am wondering why Bionx and the resellers insist that you must use the Bionx recharger and not any LiMn 36v charger. Is there a specific technology that Bionx uses that creates this need?

I see many "cheaper" chargers for 36v Lion battery chargers. I think $145 is a little steep for a simple Chinese made 36v charger.

Sorry, maybe I should have posted to the "Battery Technology" forum. If a moderator can change this that would be great.

Thanks

Well, I bet the main reason is so that they can keep selling expensive chargers. I cut off the XLR plug on my BionX 36V charger and it had only two wires, + and -. I didn't see anything that would stop you from using a different charger.

I agree. I'm just wondering if the Bionx has some circuitry that is different than other Lion batteries that requires the specific charger? I was hoping someone on here might know.
