I've bought an EMC-600 charger, and would like to add a V-A display. For this I need a 4-30V source, and would prefer this source to be internal in the charger. The fan runs at 12V I presume, so where could I tap into that 12V source?

If you open it up you'll probably find a header that the fan is plugged into. I'd check the voltage before/after though. I opened up one charger that just used a resistor in line with the full charger voltage to limit fan current. Adding additional load could drop the voltage to the fan and reduce cooling. If the fan runs off a dedicated 12V tap on the transformer then you will probably have less to worry about. Why not just use an inline volt/amp meter?

The fan isn't always on, which is what I'd need of course to tap power from there.

Most of those inline meters can't handle the 92V my charger delivers.
