Hey Guys,

So, who lives near the Chicago area? I live about an hour northwest of Chicago and I want to know if anyone is near me. Maybe we could go for a ride or just hang out. I feel isolated with no-one near me with an E-bike.

Anyway, just poking fun. I would like to see if anyone is near me, though. It would be cool to compare setups and maybe go for a ride.

Ah yes Chicago, your post brought back some old memories. I originaly came to Chicago in 1959 and couldnt speak a word of english, loved that town in those days. I remember getting my first car, a 1954 Ford Victoria. Used to love riding around late at night just for shear pleasure and getting to know the area well.

Left in the early seventies cause I just couldnt handle it anymore. Had a business repairing laundromat equipment and the traffic was just insane. Getting stuck on the Dan Ryan every day, breathing in all the exaust fumes was so bad, used to have to drink malox because the fumes gave me acid indejestion.

Like many typical towns, everyone thinks bigger is better, but that just isnt so. Finaly moved to Florida in the early seventies and never looked back, and I dont even care to see another snow flake, had my fill of shoveling snow..lol

But your post sure brought back old memories, I guess thats what happens when you get to the end of your life, looking back and smiling.

Hope you find someone to ride with, I would take up your offer if I still lived there.

i think russell is near there...

I'm never driving a car in Chicago ever again. It's crazy. They want like $3.50 just to ride the skyline. Or was it $5? I can't remember but it was crazy. Traffic was nuts. I hate cities that scare me when driving. St Louis's MLK bridge scares me and Chicago's Skyline scares me and this is come from a man who has put a lot of miles on his car. I used to deliver pizzas. I've afraid of heights so that's why it scares me.

Hey Matt,

Are you the guy with the electric conversion project on the WISIL site using an RC motor and homemade gearbox? I don't remember meeting, but I'd like to hook up with you.

I live in Chicago and have electric recumbents (bike & trike) along with a couple electric mtbs. I know Ed Gin, Warren Beauchamp and most of the hardcore recumbent riders here in Chicagoland and did Fred Rodriguez's electric Rotator conversion. I often do PA support for the annual HPVA races in Northbrook and usually go to Terry Lee's annual recumbent Christmas party.

I've got a sweet TIG welder but no mill or lathe. I'd love to swap welding work for machining or just swap advice. And I'd be curious to see/ride your contraptions and you'd be welcome to try mine.

I am the guy, for sure. ;)

I spoke with Warren just today. Small world.

I may be heading to Chicago Saturday to look at a 2006 silver Baron lowracer one of the racers (also a friend of Warren's) that I am interested in buying.

I will PM you my number.

Matt
