I was amazed at how many high powered scooter motors there are available! I first started looking for something similar to Etard's find, a 1500W scooter hub motor and found this:

http://successmotor.en.made-in-chin...VC/China-Brushless-Hub-Motor-1500w-2500w.html I was pretty floored when I saw this, but that is about 1000W more than I need!

So then I started looking for 1000W+ scooter hub motors to use as a mid drive (the width is of no concern, but the diameter should be kept to a minimum for an ideal one) and I found this:

They make a 1200W that can be used for multiple purposes, including a bicycle, so hopefully I can get one with a case that has standard freewheel threads. Only catch seems that you have to buy a minimum of 2 motors, which are in the $50 - $100 range, and then of course shipping.

I'm going to look first locally for a used brushless scooter motor, but if unsuccessful, I might buy a new one, wondering if anyone else can shed some light on what to look for in such a hub motor.

Thanks!
