Aprilia 125 tuareg e-conversion

I found this :

with this frame:

100 kg, for 500 euro, secondhand, not so far from were I live.

I am very tempted, even if it seems the frame can host maximum 4 leaf modules .... :?

should I go the superstreet road?

have fun!

derbi Gpr is 100 kg with motor e no liquids. impressive frame for a 50 er.
Would buy of course only if with clear paper, motor was burned and maxed to 80 cc.
I have already 7 leaf modules, otherwise 18650 would make more sense in that frame. I have to see
if it is still available :| alternatively I found a Ducati 748, with 916 motor, but that would require
bigger electrics than I have  and would gain me a ticket to the moto-hell

have fun!

Wow! That motor makes me feel funny in my pants. 120 degree V twin 50cc? Sorry, this is an electric forum... I should behave. I've got to find me one of those.

haha  sorry, the second pic is from an italian tuner that upped the motor using the original motor basement, adding an additional cilynder to reach 195 cc and 60 ps on the standard frame of the bike.
I linked it since it was easy to see the frame of the bike and the lack of space for batteries... :(
but also to tease the gas fans

have fun!

news ... the derbi gpr seems to have clear papers, just the ICE is not complete, lacking the carb.
If that is all, considering e-conversion, could be I can get it as early as this weekend.
When done with the frame acquisition, of course I'll edit the topic name. :p

have fun!

Use that for reducing the price, and don't mention that it is for electric conversion... Trust me :)

perhaps, I'll try that too, seems for now he got not too many people asking, already 3 weeks ....
Hope will go good, and frankly would like to try this small motorbike with gas first, in order
to compare if the e-conversion is successful or not ... would hate to be painted by a puny 50 gasser, later
In the end, here around at least, a lot of 50 scooters are going reasonably steep uphill in 2 passengers with
cagers behind metering healthy 80 kmph .... me too as witness, and police don't care ... :|

have fun!

the Derbi Gpr is a very cool looking bike, but unfortunately the frame would not have enough space
for the planned battery and controller, the deltabox is very sleek and would not have space to
fit even 4 Leaf modules...
I'm looking for Aprilia Af1 or Rs 125 at the moment... we will see...

have fun!

just found a bargain for a Cagiva Mito 125 street bike. unfortunately not many owners are updated with the
new modifications to the law for property transfer of mopeds and bikes, so this often results in troubles, that I would avoid.

In the meantime I found a nice site with free schematic drawings of the inner and outer pieces of several bike brands.
http://www.easyparts.it/category/0-968-1/Ricambi_Originali.html

From there I confirmed that many gas bikes have very small space for the wanna be battery. Better would be with
600cc. and higher, but an electric motor with 10kW is no match for the weight of such a bike. And 20kW as well..

have fun!

Have you thought of using motor with lower rpm for single reduction? Way better and cheaper. I am preparing a bike build for my brother. We currently looking for some 50cc enduro type frame, will use 6kW motor. Got 8 packs of nissan leaf modules for 16s2p or 60v 60ah pack. I will transfer most of the stuff from leaf battery including brackets, series connectors and connector insulators.

Yes, it is in the beginning of this page! The Mars me907 that I already have, with a stock motorbike chain
reduction can help to reach 80 kmph or something around at 56V. The Cvt was just an idea to know opinions.
I have 7 Leaf modules, but I find troubles in fitting all that in most of the frames I already considered.
Not to mention the 30 Kg of weight of the battery, from experience it is too much to put in the position
of an enduro tank, maybe ok in the frame of a street bike, only problem it is the space in the deltabox is not
usually enough to fit 7 Leaf modules. Possibly I will fit only 4, converted 4s1p and will use the rest for the e-bike.
Maybe 1 module will make a great laptop Pc battery

have fun!

I calculated 8 modules at 30kg. What about altering the frame? I am going for 6.5" trasmag motor, think 3000rpm at 48v. We sort of win on weight cause we weigh at 65kg, 25kg less than most dudes :).

Leaf modules are indeed big and heavy, they need screws , supporting frame and compression too, that makes
weight and I would like also a swappable battery mount, to charge inside in winter when it is freezing.
A Frame with deltabox aluminium is so nice, a pity to alter and also dangerous to drive ... in the end ...
I win weight for your same reason, but for me it would be pity to make an e-moto more heavy than the gasser

have fun!
