Hi ESFMs,

The other day, I came back to my bike only to discover that some douche had cut my motor's phase and and hall cable. It was cut in two places taking out a small chunk of length. They also cut through my gear cable.

Is there anything I can sheath my cable in that will make it more resident to cable cutters?

That's a one of the following: a targeted act, a freak catastrophe, or you're just parking your bike in such a hopelessly shitty area that you should be glad it wasn't burned to ashes.

No, seriously, that sucks and is awful but it is also very unusual. If someone wants to vandalize your bike there's not much you can do to protect it except have it not be there.

Damm dude.. Where the heck do you park your bike?

You could do like a metal sleeve but even then it's going to just stand out even more and if they can cut the wires in half they can likely cut through any type of metal sleeving...

Your #1 best bet is to park in someplace different. Gosh I can't imagine that happening where I live and park... Now granted I park in front of a courthouse and fbi building but still...lol.

They cut those they could have cut anything on your bike... Spokes...brake lines...shifter lines...evetything. Your quite lucky actually...

What's your bike look like? Real nice or did you make it look like chit? I saw a bike walking in this am...brand new dual suspension giant mountain bike...yea that won't be there long before it gets stolen... Make your bike look like crap.

That does suck, you can get cable protectors anything from extra thick heat shrink, to heavy duty heat shrink, to PVC mesh, grounding mesh, all the way up to steel. If you go to Home Depot, you will see that there, its called AC90. Not many residential buildings install that, its more of a commercial product, so maybe cruise industrial parks. Either way its cheap stuff. You may want to think about hiding your wires a little better, making it more camouflage. Hard to do with thick AC90. Perhaps just some cheap plastic pipe would work well for you so its sized right.

What country/state/province do you live in, big city or small town?

It sucks and why on earth someone will do it. It has like zero benefit for him.

I don't know what they are called but there are some covers which look like squeezed or pressed springs. they use it on hydraulic hose of some machines.

So if you search for it maybe it can be helpful.

Internal cable routing is about the only thing that will prevent an attack but the cable has to come out somewhere on most E-bikes.

If you do manage to protect the cables, there is still plenty to attack on a bike so you would probably get less repairable damage.

Park it somewhere safer.
