Aside from controllers ASI also starts producing motors. The MDU Q series looks like its a hubmotor, but im not sure. it has following great specs:

• 210 Nm peak torque
• Maximum 400RPM/800RPM
• 3kW continuous traction capacity
• 6kW peak power
• 43A / 84A continuous phase current
• 225A/350A peak phase current
• 93% maximum system efficiency
• Aluminum rotor casing
• Under 10” outer diameter

they say:
We are currently collaborating with customers to produce alpha samples

i really would like to test one if they offer it with a spoke flange and if it has less weight compared to hubs with similar power.

good find. interested in knowing more about the novel magnet config. I'm guessing they insert mags slugs into the rotor lams in a v shape (IPM style) so it also uses reluctance torque and as a bonus there is no way a mag can come loose

should not be to hard to weld on a couple spoke hole rings

axle looks kinda weak though

like this but an outrunner

Whenever they put fluff like that they have nothing new. In this case, it looks like they took a Chinese scooter hubbie and machined the brake side way down. That's why the pictures show almost nothing.

"The rotor is also composed of steel laminate material, and uses custom NdFeB magnets in a unique configuration that results in higher torque per unit mass and unit volume"

They also mention machine wound stator for higher fill

I think this is not ur ordinary hub

flathill, the rotor on the pic you posted is from BMW i-cars i think, right? i have seen short time ago a vid on youtube how they are built^^

this ASI hub motor seems to be total different stator and rotor design compared to common chinese DD hubs, what gives me hope it will have much better power to weight densitiy.

I have sent an email to ASI one week ago asking for more infos, photos and such things, but by now i haven't got a reply. i also mentioned that im very interested to test such alpha sample, but it seems like they do not care about private people (as they also did when i asked for a controller a year ago). thats a pity :(
maybe justin from ebikes.ca knows more or can get more infos from them. he converts the BAC controller into a really nice case so i think he has good contact to them..

Im relly keen to see how these motors perform and in what price area they will play. This would be the first hub on the market i know that is not made in china :)
