Fush
100 W
well we will soon find out...i just sent them an email. On the webpage it says its an Australian motor built and designed here...so i have my doubts
The texas electric bikes one is similar casing to ours but theirs is 500 watts so bigger windings and higher power consumption. All windings and settings in the controller vary for locations and requirememnts. The USA has a limit of 750 watts. Wish it was like that here.

3. X5
Brushless
$850 aud
plus $140aud freigh
Just for comparison Fush, my motor was $270, including controller and spoked into a singe wall Rim.
I'll see how it goes at 48v Smile
what kind of bike is it mounted on? 26" rim - ie mountain bike? or 700c ie hybrid?newbie electric rider said:G'day Mates
I was just reading your posts, I have a 48 volt, ni cad, 406 c lyte, 36 volt 20 amp controller.(front wheel)
I am a pretty fit person, 170 lbs, and have been a cyclist for years. i push my bike up to speed and really prefer the top end over the torque. ( although i havent tried the higher torque models so cant really compare noob i am). Top speed is about 52 km, per hour, and imo at that speed you need to be on smooth surfaces, when off roading which i dont do much, i go a lot slower, like 15 km/h or so. I am really aware of the wieght of the bike and do not want to put too much strain on the frame, forks or rims.
My daily round trips are around 30 kms, and I have lots of juice left when I get home. It takes about 2 - 3 hours to recharge the batteries.

Cool...I tend to be a person that if I spend up big on something i try and get the best...as long as its cost effective...but i would be interested in finding out how fast yours goes....
I really liked the geared hub because while i am quite close to the city it is still quite hilly...and thats the part that really kills me...so something that is has lots torque, light and a descent top speed is what i am looking for...puma does seem to be a match..
God that is heavenly! any chance of taking lots of pic and uploading them? Knoxie - ur work 4 the ebike community is excellentknoxie said:Fush said:Just for comparison Fush, my motor was $270, including controller and spoked into a singe wall Rim.

Hi
The Puma is a torque monster, even on 37V 35A it will climb walls and still top out nicely on the flat, its the best I have tried so far my only concern was the gears, taking a motor apart after 800 miles of abuse i need not have worried as its fine. None of the xlyte motors can match the torque of the Puma low down, i should know as I have tried them all, that said the xlyte motors are still a great option esp the X5 and the dual speed 4 series motors.
I am going to get the Puma factory to make a few upgrades that will make this motor perfect, they need to uprate the windings, and make all the gears metal, this will make a very robust 1KW hub motor, they also need to key the rotor to the gear shaft and thicken and shorten the phase wires.
If they do this they will have an amazing motor on their hands, I think we still need limits, 30mph is as quick as you need to go on a push bike IMHO, the Puma as it is can do this, how ever to do this with long term reliability they need to to beef it up a little.
Just my input

yep thats right 1300w. Knoxie made a fantastic video which is on google showing amps and volts on a ride with a HUD on screen.Mark_A_W said:Knoxie,
Can you expand on the 37V 35A rating?
Is that the max rating of the controller/motor?
Or the actual AMPS that you are drawing? 1300w!!! Bit over our 200w limit....Constable...
My Lithium battery has a 20 amp fuse...

How many gears in your Rear Cluster? From Brett I'd probably go the GL2, it's narrow...maybe I should have...dunno..
