just wondering if i add a balance lead to my i-cycbie robot dogs nimh battery and put it on any of the titled chargers.

will it balance charge?

well yes indeedi you can but quite a bit of work involved to set it up.
If i'm correct its 12v battery with 10cells in series. You would need to do 5 cells at a time with balance lead connected. If you want to charge 10cells at one time with those chargers you need to put an on/off switch between the 5th and 6th cells ( assuming both chargers on same power supply), if you have separate power supplies for each charger may not need to separate the 5th/6th cell electrically.
what country you in?

I know the ISDT has a NiMh setting. The Imax B6 does too. The Turnigy does too. They are known as " Multi Chemistry" battery workstations.

I dont think you really CAN "balance charge" NiMh. They wont full up without the Peak and Hold function of the NiMh charger.. Set a NiMh cell on a Lithium charger... it will just fill up, false fill, the charger will stop, and you will have a 1/4 charged cell.

NiMh needs " Peak and hold" current.

Up to the final voltage of the string, at the set current.

The chargers you mention have this function. To set the charger intentionally on a " Lion " setting and try to charge a NiMh cell is silly. Just set the charger correctly. On NiMh.

NiMH batteries are balanced simply by giving them a full charge. They drop V when full of Cap. and that makes charging them in parralel.. a little funny. With cells in series they are all charged at the same current, so cells that need less charge must be overcharged to ensure that the other cells also receive a full charge. If you want to “balance” your NiMh battery, charge it at 0.1C for 16 hours. This is called a "forming charge".

Use your charger on the correct setting I would presume make the best charge.

not needed balance at all.. becausee, if good cells inside, those never debalance, keep equal performance over time. all cells lost capacity at same rate.
but if compromised cells mixed to pack at beginning, U should have debalanced battery over time.. and U may need to correct it!

you keep at nickel metal hydride battery era
at least better than nickel cadmium

i have made a lithium for the dog but....as wonderful as it is it seeing him move with more pep and speed.
i worry about decreasing the life of the brushes in his movement motors. hes quite old now.

i suppose i should really check the current nimh hes using and see what V each cell is at....and see if it is even a problem. i know he uses "split voltage off the batt"
i.e. the full battery voltage is used for the motors....but half the battery/voltage is also used for his logic/sensors/lights.

so one half should drain quicker than the other. depening on the discrepancy i could just get away with charging each half seperately then.
thanks again
