Balance connector question for 7s zippy compact

Hi all, an easy question for the guru's. Ive got the 7s zippy compact lipos, and want to change the 2 separate balance connectors for a single 8 pin jst. I have the jst's already but just need someone to confirm which extra cable from the lipo i dont need. Is it just a case of disconecting one of the negatives from either the 4 or 3s balance connectors?

Yes, but you put it a bit vaguely. On a jst balance plug, orient it so you hold the plug in your left hand, so you look at the top, the plastic side with the raised tabs. The bottom side, not visible is the side with the visible metal.

So left hand, looking at the top, the wire closest to you, is the only negative. All the rest connect to one cell or the other. So the wire you don't need on the second plug would the the negative one on that plug.
