Batteries - fuses or no fuses

I often work on batteries - balancing, and replacing fuses mostly. Some batteries
have fuses - for charging and discharging, while other batteries do not. Should all
batteries have fuses?

They should all have protection. At minimum a fuse. Circuit breaker would be better. BMS with overcurrent protection is best.

i personally dont on my ebikes......but im mad. USE A FUSE OR BREAKER!!

on the flipside though i usually wear motorcycle gloves and have my main battery loom at a very accessible point (to be ripped out at a moments notice).

i also make a point of having my batteries be very easily/quickly removable (flingable)....as well as being split into three ( 3x 6s lipos in series for 72v)

if one goes up it can be quickly isolated/removed from the bike and the other batteries to save them. hopefully leaving me with 48v....and a way to get home.

plus how i charge my batteries....means removing them from the bike and using a 6s balance charger. so i get a general feel/warning when i have a cell thats "slowly dieing". as i can see individual cell voltages and resistances on each charge.
