Battery pack creation for an E Max

Hi There

I am thinking of buying an Emax 110s (or similar type of scooter) with no batteries and swapping out the controller.

Plan with an Emax is to put a power velocity 18F 7KW controller in it.

Batteries, I am struggling with a bit. Thinking of a cheap LifePO4 kit from China (72v 40ah) but they are still running about £600-800 with questionable cell quality.

I have the ability to build my own packs from 18650's but sourcing that many for a cost effective price seems hard.

Range needs to be 20-30 miles tops.

I used garden variety GBS lithium cells at 48 V (16 series) and it's great. The Sevcon inverter will take up to 18 in series.

These are the older ones without the sevcon controllers, so to get any real speed/power, I would need to change the controller.

16 in series would be £880, although with the change of controller, would want 52v+ I think so would probably go 18 or 20 cells. Still quite a bit for batteries....
