SO I'm building a pack out of loose cells, and I could goto my local hobby shop and pay probably 2x the price, or order some on-line. I have seen some for sale, but I don't see anything too exact about the size.

So I'm needing some shrink wrap to make a battery pack of 1.3AH Konion cells, and I measure this 6 cell pack at 4.5" long, 3.75" wide by 0.75" thick.

Any idea as too what size I should order? I can just use tape, but I'd rather not go that route if I can avoid it.

Thanks!

Duct Tape it.

The size will be right.

And if you need to cut it off to check balance, or reconfigure, you won't have a heart attack.

I second that motion of ductape. I might even wrap my thundersky cells in it. Also depending on the type of pack you make you might wanna put self adhering floor tile or use self adhering neoprene foam and then wrap the pack. Just depends if you want the hard blocky feel or the soft contoured feel.

If you choose to use heatshrink, then the size you need is going to be whatever shrinks down to the size your pack is (or further).

For instance, some stuff I have here that shrinks to 1/4" diameter is a bit over 1/2" wide when flat, before shrinking.

So if your pack will be shrunk so the ends are on the open part of the tubing, you need stuff that is about 4" wide (perhaps more) when flat, so that it will slip over your pack and then shrink down to conform to it.

Since HS thickens as it shrinks (picture the polymer chains moving together sort of like a muscle contracting) then using the largest HS you can get that will still shrink to conform to the pack will net you the most durable HS covering.

There are also a few types of HS, where some is a matte finish and quite rubbery when shrunk, and others that are slick and shiny.
