Hey guys,
Just thought I’d ask if anyone has advice on getting these locknuts to lock together. When servicing my bafang mid drives I generally just tighten the lock nuts up until I feel some resistance, like on headset bearings. I haven't yet experienced excessive wear of the thrust bearings doing this. However, I worry that the nuts could loosen or tighten with time and cause issues. Clearly if there are 2 nuts they should theoretically lock together, right? Otherwise why not use just one nut. I have also opened up a few brand new motors to find the lock nuts unlocked. A couple ideas come to mind to solve this issue: One solution is machining a key way into the axle and placing a keyed washer between the two locknuts to allow the nuts to tighten against each other. The other option is using a thread locking compound, but it is a greasy environment which could make this tedious.
Keen to hear any other solutions.
Thanks in advance!
