Befang BBS02 and possibly BBSHD Questions

I am noticing that some places are selling the Bafang BBS02/BBSHD as only Canbus now
What does that mean ? Can I use I use my own battery pack on a Canbus Befang ?
Does it use different displays ?

The can-bus version uses a different display, but will {at least for now} use aftermarket batteries.I just installed a BBS02B canbus version on my Catrike and used the same 52v HL style batteries I used on the previous Bafangs. One thing I found was the canbus will not run without the speed sensor, or at least I haven't found a way to do it yet.The throttle / brake wiring is the same as the earlier versions, the speed sensor, display and battery information if you use the bafang battery are all different connects than the previous version.
