Best controller for 100v and under?

Hi guys
Im a noob regarding aftermarket controllers. Only have been using Chinese no namers recently
I have seen controllers such as Infineon at em3ev.com and Lyen controllers, Kelly and a few others.
Im looking for a controller to handle a maximum of 100V and can have changable voltage, down to 58V if this is possible
I seen a few 72V 45A controllers that are fairly cheap but 80-90V will me too much for it I assume.
Im looking for a 100V rated controller because Ill be always running under that voltage so Id prefer to have a safe buffer zone as to
not blow the controller

Motor is is hall sensored motor, gng mid drive

Recommendations?
 
Lyen have a great contorller that can modified for your specifications while keeping a great price. Send him a PM..

I've been running 100.8V max on my $35 72V 1500W 40A controller for 3 years. Pretty much any 72V controller will run at 100V. I've recommended this one to several people without complaints.

There is a simple answer and a not so simple answer to this question. So let's start with dead simple.
The "best" controller is a Kelly Controller. But you don't need that. No one really does.
The Best in practicle terms is going to be one from paul at EM3ev.com. But you may not need that either.
Lyen's controllers are best if you plan to further modify them. They are sold as a starting point, rather than a finnished product.

So the simple answer is EM3ev.com

However, it's not that simple. 100 volts is the peak for the 4110 FET, and if you plan to run at 100 volts often, going for a 4115 FET controller is a better idea, as you're not pushing the redline all the time that way.
However, if you plan to run near 58 volts and won't go over a peak of 63 volts, then a 48 volt vcontroller with 3077 FETs is far supperior to the 4110 and 4115 FET controllers. The lower the peak voltage, the higher the efficancy and lower the RDs will be. Also a controller built for closer to your voltage range will have the voltage regulator for the 12v and 5v rails built closer to your needed spec voltage, so it will waste less power and produce less heat.

What is the actual voltage range you plan to use?
 
I would highly recommend the Adaptto Mini-e. I have previously had a lyen 18fet and crystalyte 18 fet and they were toys in comparison. Kelly is definitely not the best, not even close. Will function on any voltage up to 98v but recommended to stay under 92. As they are a sine wave controller efficiency is very high, heat is no issue running mine on 6kw@84v. With the addition of their BMS it also becomes a high quality onboard balance charger.

How long did it take to get it?? He hasnt shipped mine out and its been over a week since paying
 
I bought mine over 3 years ago and didn't have anything customized. I don't remember how long it took to get here.
 
I don't know what you mean by under 100v. But I do know a typical 72v controller off ebay has 100v caps in it.

Lyens tells me to run that type(100v caps) under 90v. So that means 90v at full charge. However, you will drop 5v pretty fast from a fully charged lico pack, so I don't see running 24v hobby king packs as a problem. The issue with above 90v is with a resistor on the 5v part, not the caps.

If you mean under 100v nominal, that's different. Lyens set me up with a nice controller for that, in his 12fet. I have a jumper on it, and if it's unplugged, its a 72v-120v controller. Plug in the jumper, and it's a 48v-72v controller. My assumption is that the jumper changes the voltage on the 5v part. So you aren't overvolting the throttle and halls.

So talk to Lyens is definitely one option. My two way Lyens runs anything from 48v to 120v.
 
The jumper is probably a resistor across the LVC circuit. Plugged in it parallels the on board resistor to lower the resistance. Lowering it raises the LVC. Atleast that's how it works on mine. Normal resitor is 1200 ohm for 62V lvc. Lowering it to 800 ohm raises lvc to 84V, which allows regen to work with higher voltages. Stock, it won't work with a voltage over ~78V.
 
Most 36v controllers will have 63V caps and 68V fets. All 48V controllers should have those at minimum. All 72V controllers should have 100V caps and fets.
