I have just opened up the casing on a 48v battery this evening... if I had seen prior that anyone was interested, I would have taken photos as I went

I used two sharp thin screwdrivers, pushed one in the underside - you will see where the join is - and there is a type of lip, just rock the screwdriver back and forth until it pops. You then have to gradually work your way around alternating the screwdrivers. The bottom of the battery case is glued on, that's why it has to be worked all round.
Even when the bottom edge has popped off all round, still need a fair amount of brute force to pull them apart.
The reason for dismantling - Doha Customs won't let it fly out the country. To send it to Dubai, then to try and fly it from there is too involved - I want to keep the casing, just to see if the battery can be remade, possibly with a higher voltage and external controller if required.
