Hi all! I have had a few days with my m6 now and I thought it was time to post a review. I post this review as someone who has almost never skated before. I am an ebiker, long time off roader (atv) and all around tinker type. I love mechanical stuff
This is my first power board. Feel free to ask me anything and I will try hard to give you the best information I can.
Vender:
-I got my board from blueplanetsurf in Honolulu. The phone support was awsome. Rob the owner had a good deal of knowledge of the product.
-They assemble the board in shop with American made parts specificaly from Altered Skates for the M6.
-I had a major problem with my credit card merchant and Rob went out of his way to make the sale happen. I cant thank him enough. Fantastic support and a super nice guy! Thank you Rob!
Packaging:
-Large box with foam inserts.
-Sturdy, tightly packed and survived UPS from Honolulu to NJ via 2nd day air without a scratch.
-Only downfall to the packing was the tires are part of the packing structure. If tires are not inflated properly then packing would not be nearly as strong. My board came with tires inflated to 40psi(max).
The Board:
-Super stiff board. A pluss as this thing has waaaaaaayyy to much power.
-Concave
-Grip is great. I cant imagine needing more grip
-Nice green and black color. Easy to keep clean, should look good for a long time.
Battery Box:
-The space available inside the box for the battery is 13 inches long, 7.2 inches wide and 4.1 inches deep. <<<<<<<=====================Source your battery
-Came with threaded screw points for a strap system.
-Has molded flanges for 12v 12ah size sla batteries.
-Strap points and flanges for batteries can easily be removed for a larger pack giving you the full inside dimension.
-Durable plastic of some sort
-Super easy to remove with easy pull pins and snaps right back on in the same fashion.
Controller Box:
-8 inches wide, 3 3/8 long and 2 1/2 inches deep.
-Same plastic as the battery box but with an aluminium cooling fin cover.
-4 bolts and the cover comes off.
-Lots of room even with the electronics installed.
Electronics:
-I have not tried to source the electronics. Its all supposed to be made in the USA.
-Hand held controller works well, feels good in the hand and has been super responsive so far
-Hand held controller is made out of a hard plastic. Not very appealing. Its by far the most delicate part of this product.
-Its a true 50 amp controller.
-3 speed hand held controller makes it easy to find a setting anyone can enjoy.
Motor:
-I dont have the specs on hand
-Large diameter Carbon Brushed 800w
Wiring:
-Wiring is novice.
-2 but splices outside of the controller box going to the motor. Both splices not crimped improperly with very little wire inside the splice itself. Both splices came out on first ride on smooth pavement. Could have very easily shorted out on the controller box. I got lucky.
-Wire from the controller to the motor was not mounted in any way. It freely hung making it a catch hazard. Wire was 2 inches off the ground.
-Very short lead for the battery. Maybe 3 inches long. Needs to be at least 2x that. Made putting the battery box on a challenge.
-The only removable connection is the point you plug in the battery. Everything else is soldered in aside from the 2 but splices leading to the motor. While some may enjoy this I prefer some sort of termial. I want to know that if any of the wiring gets pulled on it does not directly pull on the electronics or the battery. Say you loose hold of the battery box or snag the motor wiring its going to pull directly on the electronics. These vital parts of the electronics need to be safe guarded against such threats that will be abundant as its an off road board. A cheap fix but a needed fix imo.
-Electrical tape used instead of shrink tubing.
Performance:
-WOW!
-The torque is almost impossible to manage. I am 230+ pounds. This board will literally blow me off of it. There is no way I can stand, lean or anything. It just has way more torque then I can handle. I have tried sitting on the board and the tire breaks loose constantly on hot pavement.
-Low speed is super user friendly in comparison to the other 2. While the board still has the same massive torque its spread out along the entire trigger pull and its managable. Low speed is around 10 mph maxed out.
-Medium setting is a drastic increase. Even the smallest movement in the trigger results in massive bursts of torque. MUCH harder to ride for me. At 10+ mph the torque is no less then from a dead start.
-High setting is just insane. I cant skate even close enough to safely operate on this setting. The trigger pull is almost impossible to manage.
-The brake works well all around. While it drastically increases magnitude near the end of the trigger push(pull makes it go, push makes it stop) it was very easy to get used to.
-Super stiff bushings are a life saver. I did not like it at first because I live in an urban area with lots of side walks and tight turns but now I love it. It makes the board much more stable and easy to relax while riding. I may have to get down and grab hold of the board for some tight turns but its a worth while sacrifice for the cruising comfort.
Final Thoughts:
I love this thing. It is soooo much fun to ride around. I am in my mid 30s and I have a bad knee. Biking has recently become almost impossible. This board gave me my mobility back again and it gets me out of the house. This thing blows away all 4 of the chinese boards I tried by miles. Unlike some of the 1200$ boards I tried this one had the most torque and at half the price and its super mod friendly. Other more expensive boards are double the cost and dont have any room for expansion imo. I can drop a 20ah lifepo4 pack in this and still come in under the cost of most of those boards. Outside of the novice wiring job and the bad tires its an awsome product and I plan on buying the Ham-board Altered makes by the summer time.

-This is not the board on youtube. Its a new version with better electronis and its almost totally silent.
