We all know that the Bionx weak part is the battery.. as well as on many ebike on the market.
I decided to make my own research about the BionX Lithium ion battery.
Here is what i found:
BIONX LiMn BATTERY specs:
- Battery voltage: 37V nominal 41-42V fresh of the charger
- Capacity: 9.6Ah ( 355.2Wh )
- Cell arrangement: 10s6p
- Battery BMS: NO balancing.. But will cut at 31V
- Cell model: 18650V from Sony (SE US 18650 V)
- Cell capacity: 1.6Ah 3.7V
- Cell format: 18650 ( 18mm dia x 65.0mm long)
- Cell max current ( 16A... 10C)
- Pack geometry: 60 Cells tied together 12 cell long of 5 cells wide
- 60 cell pack manufacture: BMZ (Batterien-Montage-Zentrum) in Karlstein tél +49618899560 http://www.bmz-gmbh.eu
But their factory burned entirely in 2008:
Now i dont know who took the relay for that...
- REPLACEMENT CELL SOURCE: MAKITA BL1830 3Ah 18V pack contain 10 cells
- temp monitoring via a temp sensor on the battery cut at 90 celsius
- Max pack charge current ; 1.6A (18.0 A cells can handle.. not the BionX battery)
- Max discharge current: 18.0 A
- Charge temp condition : 0 to 45 degrees
- Discharge temp condition : -20 to + 60 degrés
-Finally a project for converting BionX to A123: http://ruthnlarry.net/evs/bikes/solrh/a123intro.htm
Here is some pictures from a french website:
( you can also find some great Information Ken from itselectric.ca also wrote back in 2008)
