Hi all

Planning to take a trike to Burning Man and would like to add an electric front wheel to it. I purchased a used trike and 36v etire last week. However, when I got it home all the wiring at the tire end was shredded. I imagine it would cost as much to repair it as it would to buy a new one off ebay.

So I'm now looking for a new electric front tire that will work well on flat sandy surfaces. I'm having a lot of trouble deciding between the 36v/48v and the 500/1000w. This is the one I'm looking at:

I also need some help with battery selection. I can't see myself going more than 3-4 miles a day and would need the battery to last ideally for 6 days. I will have access to solar power to recharge it as well as a Goal Zero Solar Charger has a battery Capacity: 150Wh, 14Ah (12V) and Power Output: USB (2x), 12V, AC

The motor kit will work. Others that cost more will work better for low speeds. be more efficient for slow speed. But on the playa there is no hills, so it won't matter very much.

Lead will be the cheapest and easiest battery to get your hands on, but you will need to charge it. Preferably, each night, or even while you are visiting a camp. Barter for plug. Two sets of 36v lead batteries is one option. one in use, one somewhere on a charger. If you can get one to come in time, a 36v 20 ah lithium battery would last you at least a few days before it really had to be charged. A smaller lithium battery would likely still need daily charging.

Your solar charger choice is far too undersized for your needs. It's panel is 20 watts. Not sure if you can whip up a solar charge setup in time now. Can do a nice one for next year, that will be a shade canopy over the trike that charges it all day. 100-200 watts of panel. There are solar charge your bike threads here.

You have about 2 weeks, so anything you order better come fast. You need it early enough to get it all up and running in time. Don't want to fuss with it once there.

Last ditch electric option would be a small AC gas generator.
