Not sure where this belongs, I'll post it here and in the general area, mods feel free to do whatever:)
I will be taking my battery with me when I go to class, so I figure I may as well put it to use. I would like to be able to charge my laptop from my 48v 15Ah ping battery. My laptop power supply is 19v @1.58A is there a good way to do this? I figure a dc-dc converter would be needed, but I have no clue what to look for or if it would be safe. something small and sleek is preferred. Advice is needed:) thanks,
Kyle

I'm assuming it's one of the light, switching type power supplies that plugs directly into the wall?

If it is, it might run straight off of your battery. Because of the way they work, they can run off DC of suitable voltage. Most need around 60V or so to start working, though.

I think your right, I have an Acer aspire one, but the power supply looks like a normal laptops. My bike's battery rests at about 52volts after my ride to class/work, so I don't think I will be able to plug it direct if it needs 60volts.

Might give it a try anyway. It's not like you'll hurt it, and I only said "most" need 60V to work.

Good point :D
