hello.

i have an ISDT chrger.....can take input voltages between 12 and 30v....im currently only feeding it 12v from a pc psu so its limited to 300watts.

if i connect a 24v supply it should be able to do the full 600w.

my local pc shop is selling pc psu for 20quid and have a 41amp rated 12v rail.....

can i just connect these twos 12v rails in series?

On some you can like some dell server psu's you can put in series to go from 12v to 24v to 36v and to 48v you just have to isolate the grounds, this has been talked about on this forum and hobbyking forums.

What is the model of psu's your local pc shop is selling.

edit - some of the higher power dc input chargers use the server psu's put in series, ichargers for example. The problem with some of the servers is the fan is goes fast and loud and there are some hacks to slow the fan down. The dell servers are 12v 60a, put in series is 24v 60a or 36v 60a or 3kw with 48v 60a. The server psu's can be really really cheap.

THe PSUs must be isolated. These links have some info on finding out
