Hello,
I found the following data for chain size here, :
Chain#_________________Pitch____Roller Diameter__Roller Width____max sprocket tooth thickness
Bicycle, with Derailleur____1/2"______5/16"_________3/32" (2.38mm)___0.087"____________ (this is the common bicycle chain size)
420____________________1/2"______0.315"________1/4"/0.250"_______0.227"/5.8mm______link sideplate thickness 1.8mm
my question is, will a 420 chain work on a bicycle sprocket (without derailleur, single speed)?
The reason I ask is that I have a motor with a bicycle chain sprocket for mid-drive, and I am willing to change my front chainring, and can only find 420 sprocket with the right amount of teeth.
Since I don't think a bicycle chain will fit on 420 sprocket due to the thickness, will a 420 chain work on the sprocket I currently have on the motor?
Thanks.
