My charger from BMS battery came with a RCA plug as I couldnt find where to put it I cut it off and replaced with a 3 pin to connect to the battery output and have been charging it at the out put end . It seems to work but whats the difference between the two plugs ???

what brand battery?

Normal BMS equipped batteries have 2 sets of wires coming off them. 1 is for the main power, the other is the charging port, and the balance charging only works through the charging port.

Good lithium should stay fairly balanced for a few charging cycles, but cheap lithium won't.

BMSbattery is a company that sells lithium and ebike related gear.

There is no practical difference between the two plugs when you wire it up with only two wires. Normally the third connection is just a "ground" used in stereo applications... Did you use an XLR (like a microphone cable) 3 pin connector or a different type? There were two results when it came to wiring your new connector up: 1) Charger FRIED or 2) Charger is working. Sounds like you did ok because you'd have hear some form of the word "ZAP" or perhaps FZZZZZTT*poof* when you hooked it up to charge.

I did the same thing to my SLA charger (only I hit $1 the first time lol). Now I know to double check everything with a volt meter before wiring batt. pack/charger. Before I fried a FET and a capacitor...and now that one is garbage.

I have been lucky , It seems that trying to charge through the wrong port just means the battery does not charge .

Which means from the time of shipping the battery has never been charged and covered some 45 miles ! when connecting up to the RCA port it starts charging correctly .

Thank You for any reply s .
