Hi Everyone,
About 6 weeks ago I bought myself a CNE bike conversion kit for $250. It's 200W and geared front motor. This price was dirt cheap as the store just wanted the kits gone. Anyway it's worked without a problem up until last week where it would cut out everytime I went over a pothole or bump. The cutout would vary between 5 seconds to 15 seconds, in this time the bike was obviously still rolling freely. I checked the wiring to controller - all good, checked throttle wiring - all good. No PAS on this bike so I ignore that. Today it completely died and I could feel the motor had a lot of resistance when I tried to spin it backwards, spinning forwards still normal and free. It's as if the gears have jammed one way. I was in the middle of my destination when this happened so I pedalled on. Once I got to my location, I checked again and it was still jammed or "really hard to roll" backwards, I then continued to pedal home and check again where low and behold it was normal again, both backwards and forwards rolling freely (as if a gear popped back in) and so I put the keys back in the ignition and it functioned like normal!
Was curious so I took it out on a bumpy road and every bump it would cut in and out, in and out. Great. It's under warranty for another... 5 days. I'll return it obviously but what could be causing this?
At first I thought it was a cable issue or something was loose... turns out it wasn't.
I do however want to upgrade to a BAFANG 8FUN front motor in the future so I am hoping it works with the controller I have now. I hope BAFANG is a reliable brand as I always see them on the top stuff e-bikes from Promovec or Peugeot etc.
Thanks.
