I have a conhismotor but er is something very wrong, when i plug in mij battery then came a spark or the fuse breaks :( and my motor spins very heavy

I not know where it go wrong, does anyone know where it go wrong.
please help

my english is not very good sorry for that

Unless you have a precharge circuit, you will get a small spark when plugging in the battery.

Shouldn't be blowing fuses though. Make sure you don't reverse positive and negative battery leads. That would blow the fuse. Use a meter to verify +-.

hi, dont mean to interrupt but since this discussion covers precharge issues, i figure it'll be ok with you guys to add in rather than start another thread.

i have a 48V batt (13S2P) that pops quite loudly with sparks too. is this damaging to my batt or controller?
i've read about precharge resistor. will i need one at 48V? if so, what resistance should i get.

thanks all in advance

regards
Darren

If the motor is now resisting heavily when you turn it by hand, unplug the main power wires and see if that resistance goes away. If the cogging vanishes, it means your controller has shorted out it's fets.

Also possible, a different fault in the controller is now shorting, so you are basically touching the + to the - of your battery when you plug in.

It's a guess, but the best guess is you have a short of some kind, possibly in a blown controller.

I use one at every voltage from 48 on up to 100V. Sudden in rush to the caps may not hurt anything, but it doesn't help either. Main damage will be to the connector end where they spark. But that usually won't cause a problem either. I just don't like sparks that may burn me if I have my fingers too close. I use 150 ohm 10w for all, but anywhere from 100-200w will work. And you don't need 10W, but it's the same size as my 10awg wire and don't have to worry about blowing it should the main bypass connection comes loose.

Crikey, do you Americans actually read posts or do you just jump in with something that gives you an opportunity to rabbit on about a topic dear to your heart?

Parmenps... if your motor is spinning up as soon as you connect, and you have a big spark on connection, it suggests to me that your throttle is either jammed full on, or the controller is getting a Full throttle on signal...

Suggested test:

  • Find the throttle connector to controller (generally three wire connector with Red Green Black Wire)

    Disconnect

    Plug in battery

See if wheel spins on plug in

If wheel not spin, controller is good, throttle or wires or connector to throttle is bad.

edit: Some tech info re throttle if it is problem...

if you have the standard cohnis hall sensor throttle, the three wires are +5v (red), -5v (black) and throttle signal wire (green).

A short, or accidental connection between red and green wire will be read by controller as throttle full on

thanks for taking the time to answer my Q. appreciate it! btw, i should attach this resistor on the + correct?

That's standard practice.

you can even Test it on a 5 cells to plug it in + and - to the controller. Without a pre charge resister 100ohm, ~ 150ohm, 180 ohm 10w . = you will still hear the spark (to find out, must do a test and believe this ) and with a precharge = spark shock noise are completely Gone ! for myself i will do a BOX one switch + and the next is just a bullent connector . well, I will suggest and advice use hobbyking bullent connector for least problems.

error, isn't 5 cells. even 2 cells does produce a spark NOISE. i did a test that day, i was also surprised
