Hi everyone,
I recently replaced the controller on my Jeep scooter with a KCQ model. However, when I turn on the scooter and connect to the app, it won’t start and I receive a “communication error” message.
Can anyone shed some light on how compatibility works between the controller and the display? What could be causing this issue?

Thanks in advance!

The display has to be matched to the controller, so if you have replaced your controller with a different make then you will likely need to buy a new display that is compatible with the new controller.

Thank you for the information!

I understand that the display needs to be matched to the controller. However, I’m curious if there is any interoperability similar to what we see with electric bicycles, where different protocols need to align. Is it possible that the new controller and display might still work together if the protocols are compatible, or is it strictly necessary to use a display specifically designed for the new controller?

It’s not just the protocols. Some suppliers selling the same displays and controllers with the same protocols use different firmware, so they aren’t interchangeable either.
