A friend of mine borrowed my bike for a test ride and managed to get pulled over by the police. The officer was really nice and informed him that he was going 72 in a 50, and should probably slow down. He also checked the bike out, gave it his approval and sent my friend on his way.

My buddy then proceeded to do a top speed run near my shop and recorded 91km/h

Sucks for you, using those puny little measurements! With good ol' miles, that's just 45 in a 31, which seems alot less bad. Speeding's much harder in Canada.

It's brave of you to let someone else ride your bike, I must say.

My friend was stopped in Port Coquitlam, which seems to be world famous for:

And locally famous for having the mayor charged with assault, break & enter, and criminal harrasment

As for test rides, I've been offering them to anyone I trust. I figure peoples natural sense of self preservation is enough to keep them from crashing, although I did have a bit of a scare from someone who had never ridden anything with two wheels faster than a pedal bike. When I go to the local EV meet on June 9th, I may use the DrainBrain's speed limiter feature.

Hey Lowell, what tires are you using on your bike these days?

Lowell,
Do the DrainBrains have a speed limiter feature? I thought that feature wasnt coming out until the new DB2 (official name TBD). Man youre gonna make me read the DB instruction manual arent you? :p

The original units may not have speed limiting, but my direct plug in version (uses the speed controller shunt to measure current) does. I'm hoping to have the large display fitted before the weekend and will post pics as soon as it's in.
