Hello again! Today we have some photographs documenting the conversion of a very crazy long chopper bike, adding a customized Crystalyte conversion kit.

Converting the chopper required some technical obstacles to be overcome, mainly in the super wide spacing of the rear wheel, where standard bicycle components would not normally fit. We started with a Crystalyte 405, and sourced some fairly unique parts which helped get the job done.

Here is the chopper before being converted:

The big trouble with converting such a bike was obviously that the rear wheel was very wide, the rim and tire were massive, and the axle spacing was much larger than what would normally be found.

A custom rim solved the wheel sizing easily enough, letting the Crystalyte use the same great motorcycle tire:

Hah, and we also replaced the oodles of rim strips with one large one.

A larger technical obstacle was that the Crystalyte hub motor was not nearly as wide as the original hub, and did not easily match up, nor provide a straight and clean chain line between the crank and sprocket of the bicycle.

This was solved through a spacing collar on the left side of the axle, and on the right side of the axle a unique freewheel coupler was sourced, which allowed the re spacing of the right side of the system and placing of the freewheel where it needed to be.

The end result is a very clean, effective solution that allows for a good chain line and an appealing aesthetic:

And the finished product, one very cool electric chopper!

With a fork like that, who needs front suspension?? :p

How long is the bike? The pictures make it look about 12 feet long.

I really love the wide tires. This is something that I looked into for a road racer bike to be built one day using them. They appear to be just about all the tire anyone would ever want. :)

Nice build. :)

I know about those rear tires, but what size is the front?

The bike is approximately 11.5 feet long from what I can recall. We had quite an interesting time fitting it in our display window, to say the least!

The designer built the bike so that the fork was removable for transport, otherwise fitting this thing into a van would've been impossible.

As for the ride of the bike, the electric motor really helped it get going from a stop, and it was a total chick magnet for cruising around town on.

Here's another shot of the chopper from the side, so you can get an idea of how long it really is.

Here another creation by the same bike builder:

I was surprise that I can pedal on this crazy chopper. It actually can cause accident by riding this bike on the street. No because the bike itself, but other drivers are turning head not look what’s in front of them.

And here is Perry the bike builder
