Hey guy's, My first post on this great forum...The helmet is ok, sorta...Not so sure about memory. The fingers are a bit sus at this stage
Hell of a first post, as we say on the forum...

Anyway, welcome to ES! So sorry to hear about your accident, err, uh, assault. :(

That finger doesn't look good at all. Have you been out of the hospital long? If so, I'd head on back in a hurry! If that's gangrene, you got to have it stopped ASAP before you loose more. Any idea what severed the fingers? They must have been somewhat clean cut for them to even try putting them back, no?

How's the memory then? What do you remember? Stopping at a light and then waking up in the hospital?

Damn shame man. Wish you the best,

Greg

ps. looks like last two fingers of left hand? you a righty?

I'm glad it wasn't any worse. Why is there no visible rear wheel damage, he was hit from behind?

I just put a rear view mirror last week, nice compact bar end style. It works great, I can easily check behind me whether riding or standing at a light, which is where I feel most vulernable. You always got to be watching your back out there.

Brett lost his left little finger from the end knuckle, could have been a lot worse.

We took off the battery box the other day to be unfortunately greeted by thisbent unit.JPG Looks like the frame took more of a beating than previously thought.

So we put the motor, battery box & wiring on his older diamondback frame, hoping to salvage at least that out of it, but had gone no further than a few metres when this transpiredaxel not rosey.JPGsnapoff.JPG Yep the axel snapped. Much better that this happened at 5kph than 50kph I suppose.

Still no memory of what happened on the night. We always use mirrors around here, once you've used 'em once you just can't go back to not having one.

One of the rear spokes is missing and another next to it is bent, the rest of the rear wheel appears to be fine still dosen't proove a rear clip from a car though. He only seems to remember leaving here to get a subway and waking up in hospital in brisbane 80kms away.

Hey Brettster, sorry to hear about your accident mate. I know this isn't the sort of thing you want to think about at a time like this (I am not a filthy ambulance chasing lawyer), I had a mate get hit by a hit and run driver on a motorbike in similar circumstances in NSW (who have a similar program to QLD). He got full compo of all his medical bills (which were pretty extensive) even though the driver was never found. Given the seriousness of your crash, you should think about lodging a claim with the criminal compensation fund.

This is a brochure about the process in QLD:

http://www.justice.qld.gov.au/__dat.../vaq-guide-for-victims-of-crime-section-6.pdf

This is a help number to explain what is available:
1300 546 587

This is the application form:
http://www.justice.qld.gov.au/__dat...1-Financial-Assistance-Application-Online.PDF

Don't pay a lawyer to help you with any of this, it is self explanatory and you can do it yourself.

At least you have a surprisingly good sense of humour about the whole thing. Best of luck mate.

Cheers, Phil.

How is your mate, Brettster, going? I hope he is recovering ok. Incidentally, did the coppers have anything to say about the bike when you picked it up?
Yes, they did say "he must have been going pretty fast to slide that far" and "it seem's to weigh a fair bit more than the average electric bike that we have encountered before" .....can't possibly think why they would ask such questions, myself, but there you go....... when your there.....as they say.
Lost about 7mm off the little finger on the left hand in the end.

Thanks philistine but I dont really want to get involed with any legal stuff at this stage been through that before and too much drama in the end for me.

My arm is recovering nicely and my finger needs a bit of time yet.
I've moved all the recoverable stuff over to my diamondback frame, it goes well with the 32a/h li-poly pack powering the 9x7 sannykung/golden motor on.

Surprising performance, I think the lighter motor works well, better take off than the 12x5 hs3540 for sure, 70kph top speed.

GO Brettster! getting back on the bike! you rock! good on ya! i'd want you on my team, that's for sure.

Glad to hear you are recovering well Brett and welcome to the board.

At this point I would be grateful for my life and it not being worse. Quiet an ordeal..
To bad there were no cameras trained on that bridge to help find who did that..
Some people are just out for themselves..

At least now you get to think about the new build. :) Keep us updated please.

Just saw this thread. Wow, I hope his hand recovered & he can use his fingers again.

Anyone have an update & know whether his memory came back to know what happened ???

I hope he is healed ok now?

This is a very good reason to take along a video camera of your rides & make sure the video is pointed in high rez to resolve a license plate.

And now ......

from the ashes of the FrockMeister rises a new beast ! The CruiseMeister !

We had this X5404 just sitting around, so decided to use it on a new chopper project using the rear suspension from the Merida.View attachment 9The idea is to remove the seat tube from the Merida and copy it using stainless steel so the rear suspension can go on to a Jesse James chopper framemerida seat tube.JPGStainless tubeStainless bar.JPGchopped !.JPGchopped 2.JPGhaving an epiphany.JPGhmm does it fit.JPGit fits !.JPGView attachment 1clamped.JPG

Hmmmm, where to put some batteries ?where to put the batteries.JPGand no, the final battery box won't be made of cardboard! I hope.View attachment 1 The wheels are going to be 26" front and rear. The front fork shall be replaced by a high quality suspension one, when the finances permit it.

The battery box has been fabbed up from aluminium and is using fancy propeller plate for the sides, should be able to get 12, 6 series 8 a/h li-polys in therebattery space.JPGpropeller plate.JPGshow us your motor.JPGcoming together.JPGWe put a set of Harley Davidson motorbike handlebars on it, they are awesomely comfortable and have holes in for hiding the wirescruzemeister.JPGPay no attention to the seat, just the result of a small lipo fire recenty  front.JPGThe seatpost is welded stainless steel with a thick galvanized steel post welded inside, and a stainless steel gusset, feels very strong.

Hello ES members, this is my third post to this great foum, not much of a web surfer but i have been lurking around since my last ebike accident. Been off work for about 8 months so I've had a lot of time on my hands. Decided to build a new project utilsing some of the leftovers from 1 mean crash. Took some more pics today, hope you like them. The bike is a chopped cruiser with the ability to mildly go offroad if needed. I am fortunate to have fellow ES member thewmatiusmoloki as a housemate to guide me on what to purchase to build this bike up to spec.IMG_0950.JPG

Looks awesome mate. I hope you recovered OK from the crash. That thing looks ready for Mad Max, when the zombie acolypse comes at least you will be dragging away from them in style. Great work.
