What a joke! ...I cant believe that, honestly...you would have to have rocks in your head to buy one at that price (or at all if im honest) ...looks like it would crumble at the forecast of strong winds, carrying a child in it would have to boarder on child abuse surely :? for that price you could get a nice second hand BMW M3.

Thanks for the laugh jmygann

The child abuse function could be it's strongest feature KiM. ;)

My kido better enjoy riding in worse things than that, or I'm taking him back. ;)

I think it's kinda neat, but the price does seem absurdly high for what you're getting. I would much rather go with a used Elise or something for something that costs that much.

I wouldnt consider anything that had such poor performance in the first place (as far as a car goes) that level of safety i would MUCH prefer a motorbike and that wouldnt be electric either LoL Well..unless Ducati start making the 1098s in electric  The price is just laughable jmygann honestly, i could show that to a 100 random people in the street and not a single person would have interest in it after i told them the price on the off chance one of them did, i would slap them on the side of the face to knock some sense into them LoL. Outside of the environmentally conscience and BOY at those prices above you would want to be the full blown chained to a tree mainlining tofu breathing gunja 24/7 hippy type to even consider it, those types generally have the ass hanging out of their pants hair down to their butt crack, are unwashed and living off welfare, so not alot of sales going that way either ... jm2c

Luke...bad news buddy haha... you cant "take em back" i think selling them brings a bit of coin on the black market though buddy could possibly exchange him for a boot load of Lipos

Those lotus Elise are a interestingly built car Luke, i have a documentary on the design and making of them, all extruded aluminium glued and bolted construction. Never seen one myself (other than on PC)

KiM

p.s Luke, Nitro Funny Cars ROCKED the Motoplex last night

Were talking 2 passenger electric vehicle. street legal ... 45 mph

Not talking freeway speeds or big boy toys. basic 45 mph electric vehicle with lithium batteries

where to buy ?

For someone with tools, a shop, and fabricating skills...getting a vehicle and converting it over to electric will always be a better deal financially. You can pick the features you want and select components that emphasize the performance aspect that you desire (money allowing).

But for a financially well-off retiree (who doesn't want to get his fingernails dirty "making stuff") that lives in a golfing community, they might actually sell a few of these. I lived in St George-Utah for 6 years. Hot summers/pleasant winters. In the Sunriver Retiree-Golf development, as long as you don't leave the very large compound, you can drive the city streets anywhere on a golf cart.

(looks like it has a handlebar instead of a steering wheel, probably Chinese ATV parts with a motorcycle rear swingarm)

This EV 3-wheeler could be registered as a motorcycle in some juristictions, and could leave the golf/housing compound to get groceries/prescriptions, go to restaurants, etc. $10K for 45-mph street-legal actually isn't too bad (off the shelf right now, plus a warrantee), however...anyone who even THINKS about driving something like this on the freeway around trucks going 65-75 mph is NUTS.

For a nice pedal+electric neighbourhood-capable vehicle, I would do something like a cross between this:

and this:

If it is to be a "cycle-car", pedal-able and with electric motor "assist", a passenger adds some complexity.

I understand the designer's idea behind making a fully enclosed vehicle as light as possible, there is an X-prize competition in the works in this regard, is there not?

Anyway thanks for the example, nice to see more folks trying to solve problems. If Sinclair had never come up with his C5 maybe none of this nonsense would ever have got started, but I'm glad he did all the same...

I think the idea is to get alternative transportation on the road

this would NOT be for the freeways

the cycle car is registered as a motorcycle

costs Millions to get a "car" on the road unless it is a conversion

i have 2 EV's ... one a conversion ... one a bicycle

the xprize ...http://www.progressiveautoxprize.org/ is for 100 mpg or equivellent

but..... if it is not available to common folks , only movie stars etc ....whats is the point ?

My thought was a vehicle for 2 ... if it could be pedaled in various weather conditions , it could be on the road without registration or license

a velomobile for 2 maybe ...I prefer the tadpoles and a sociable (side by side) would be my preference over a tandem

The Cycle Car looks identical to the Tango Trike. The Tango Trike is cheaper than the non freeway Cycle Car.The Tango comes in 50 & 200cc models.Lots of great pics and info at link below.Scroll down page a bit.

Anyone seen a Tango trike with blown engine ??

for a single seater one could convert one of these ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHkNvrcFaq0&feature=related

apparently there was an electric model with a 4 to 6 HP electric motor

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMV_Freeway

and even a two seater ..
