Dead 850C? (Tongshen TDSZ2)

Hi, Hoping someone could give me some tips on where to look next. I have a TDSZ2 running the opensource FW (1.0 beta). The unit no longer powers up. I'm using the 850C display.
I hooked up the programming cable to the motor controller and can read the data from the motor controller.
Tried reflashing the 850C fw, but all I get is the 'wait' message from the APT flashing tool. It doesn't seem the display can be found by the flashing tool.
Are there any recommended troubleshooting steps to look at next?

Check for a loose cable or connection. Examine individual pins, check wires for nicks.

Do this THREE TIMES.

Because that is how many it usually takes, and it is better to solve the BY FAR most common cause of such problems quickly with no cost rather than spending weeks and many dollars purchasing components you do not need.

Also, determine if you can bypass the display, you usually can, and determine your kit is otherwise functional.

Lastly, it could just a fried or defective display.
