Dude Turnigy 40-50C 6s 2200mAh -revived!-

Much of that went to my friends so now I only have the following:
20S 12Ah
15S 10Ah
20S 10Ah
plus some spares, about 20kg overall.
They are not bombs if you keep eye on voltages/sag and wrap the cells tight.
I ordered 12 more hardcases today. They are great since all I have to do is connect them together, no protective case needed.
And since they're not encased, they're so modular I can literally create a custom pack every other day.

I see some signs of LiPO addiction, here !

I don't need at the moment so much LiPOs bricks, except the 3 packs I already ordered in
order to test the e-pocketbike for a few minutes run at a time ... 72v @ 2.2Ah will suffice .... 8)

For the coming years, since I'm building up the components to electrify a real motorbike,
I'm planning to wait to see how the LiBATT market will develop ... so to buy the best pack
it is available as soon as the mechanics and electric conversion of the bike is ready.

I really hope a recent discovery in the LiPO research will be integrated in the mainstream
production: it is the automatic safety given from a novel separator that is able to become
impermeable as soon as the temperature of the LiPO cell is going above a certain threshold ....
so to avoid thermal runaway and cell explosion altogether ....
............. INTRINSICALLY SAFE LiPOs ..............

If that will happen, I will be leaded to use LiPO from RC to build a big pack, instead
of thinking to go with CALB or Thundersky ....

So It will be fun and I'll need to buy something like 40-80 of your beloved 4s 5Ah cubes ....

for the happiness of HK and the shipping company involved in the traffic ....

have fun!

Now that you are sorted with your lipo packs, why dont you try individually trickle charging those low cells ..just for giggles and to see if there is any possibility of recovery !
Consider it a research /learning exercise for us all.

thanx HH for the BAAADDD suggestion   ... I got that rotating
around my head since I ordered the 2 replacement packs with the refunded money 8)

Fact is: I did something like that, but I must admit it went not so good ...
SWELLING is there, but until I open the pack I will never know how bad it is ...
and how many cells are affected ... but it is noticeable ...
At least 2 bad CELLS are not keeping the charge at all just overnight ...
Oh, well ... something like that was to be expected ... anyway ...

But I promise: as soon I'll receive the new packs I will post pictures and info
about my dissecting and tinkering with old an replacement packs ....

have fun!

This is a stolen photo from a 6s 5000 pack ... As I discovered today that I received the
replacement packs from HK ... 2x 3s 2200 ... I got the explanation while my bad 6s pack
had swollen in a supposed wrong direction, at least according to what my understanding was
of the pack geometry ...

Truth is, puffing was ok: cells of the 2200 packs are not thinner than 5000 pacs, but just half
the short side ... so the picture up here is describing perfectly the inner of a 2200
pack as well, since it is just the dimension orthogonal to the screen that is halved.

Odd with puffing in my pack is the puff looks more pronounced for the cells that should
be fine or at least not too bad ... cannot tell you more until I open it ... :?

have fun!

Hey guys and girlz!

I received the two 3s replacement Lipo packs type 40C 2200 Turnigy ...
As it was planed, I decided to open and
split one of those new packs to repair a similar 6s lemon pack that I bought 8)
the previous month: same Turnigy consisting of 6 cells, but having 3 damaged in various
way .... one puffed, and two low voltage ... as i determined after I opened
it up ...

I must admit the tutorial here on ES has served well ... I used a hard plastic card
to separate the cells, soldering iron to desolder, a bit of patience and some luck! :p
The resulting good 6s pack is almost cosmetically fine ... even the shrink tube
that I managed to reuse looks ok ... I'm cycling it just now .... 8)
If anybody is curious I can put few pics, but essentially I started with a 6s and a 3s pack ...
I took away 4 cells from the 6s and 3 from the 3s ... than I refitted the 4 best
cells in the 6s pack ... and I have now a few explosive spares to burn up ...

have fun!!

I reopened the 6s pack to replace a weak cell with a better one ...
That went fine ...
Then I took the 3 remaining lemon cells and I rebuilt a 3s pack
This should be plenty of fun ... I even de-puffed a cell with a needle ...

I let you know as soon as it EXPLODE 8)

have fun!
