E bike roadtrip

Ty for the suport, a little moral boost

5+ you say Eskimo! I'm on my way, Helsinki is not that far away :p

Miro13car it is a lot of charging possibility if your longer south, but where I am I can ride for miles without seeing a house.
My hometown is so small we almost don't got parking lots and if we do, they are empty

Brooks saddle, noted.

That saddle doesn't look so bad, now that I see it. But for sure, your first 50 miler will hurt.

Man that looks cold to me. The water's all chunky. Have you looked at snowboard helmets for cooler day riding? I sure love mine.

One picture shows so clear why you must carry the generator for at least part of the ride. Looks like you have a very nicely set up trailer for it. With that generator along, I'd have a hot pad under my coat while I rode, and under my ass while camped and charging.

I just started using a snowboard helmet this winter and spring for my ebike rides and love it too. Been so hot here lately that I've been using a normal bike helmet over the past few weeks.

hjhjh.jpgi got a few full face DH helmets and they are warm but heavy, maybe ill try a helmet like you guys use.

broke my trailer today  so now im back home drinking a few beers and cry a little.
but i did get my test trip and that was my goal, now i know what i need and want for my trip across 3 nations.

one last pix of my beautiful country :p

What part broke?

Did you get enough experience to know if the solar and generator worked out?

How did you get back?

Glad you are ok and safe. Practice makes perfect :)

And I agree - your country is a gem to behold.
Until next time, KF

I broke the arm that holding the trailer.
I need two more battery's for my next trip and chargin on 5 ah, it just takes too long right now :?
fixed the trailer with some wire and tape just so I got home.

And the solar panel did its job, got 12v to charge my phone and tablet.

Oh, I misunderstood and thought you had set off on your big ride.

Keep doing shakedown rides. They will find all the problems while still close enough to home to call for help. And you will toughen up in the crotch some. I used to require the bike shorts to ride more than 20 miles, and now I routinely go 30 just wearing regular pants. But I still want the pad in the pants for 50 miles.

I'm curious about what broke on the trailer, looking at the baby trailers, they just look weak at the hitch for hauling serious weight like a generator. When I had seriously looked at trailering, I was considering the bob trailer, which has a two arm hitch. But those need some kind of adaption to work with a hubmotor.

Currently I have two 5 amps chargers. This gives me 600w of charging. While most plugs can handle much more than that, I am concerned that a plug I find someplace may have 1000w of draw on it already. Like coke machines, or just the plug is old and the breaker won't pull 1500w anymore. 10 amps is still fairly slow for charging a 45 ah pack, but till I have money for different charging, it is what it is.

It's going to be a balancing act between too heavy a trailer and how much weight you can hold; a "standard" trailer will not connect correctly to a rear hub motor. I just weld the adapter directly to my bike, but those with lesser redneck tendancies probably have less invasive solutions. Baby trailers are only good to 45kg or so, but the arms on them (or at least mine) look pretty stout. My InSTEP Sierra has a little sway bar on it that allows it to track nicely even at higher speeds. Maybe one of those garden trailers that people tow behind their ATVs for payloads above 45kg.

The Carry Freedom Y Frame Large is rated for 90kg.

If you want to go seriously heavy duty then Bikes At Work is the one to go for.

the quick lock on the trailer broke, but i made it stronger this time.
i want to build a trailer with 29'' wheels, maybe a bigwheel trailer so i can use it offroad cuz that is where i e-bike the most.

i use some sort of walking/hunting pants when i riding, its a little warm and i dont think i scratch my a** up if i crash.
but i need to use something better when im going on my main trip like you say dogman

also need a smaler tent and summer sleepingbag, i bet i can save 10 kilos if i use some money on new equipment.
gonna trow out the SLA battery and use 6500mah lipo

What I do for pants is get lycra bike shorts at the thrift store, any size, then remove the crotch pad. Then with just a few stitches, sew that into cargo pants or shorts.

Dogman what do you do with the crothless lycra pants after that.
Was having a bad to know. Bad

He puts it under the pantyhose, dies the hair and slips on a frock. Then he goes out and performs just like this:

:p

You don't know how many posts I have scoured looking for an appropriate place to post this.

Hell that'z been photoshop, it' his head but Dogman weighs more. You got her number ?
My brother is a doctor in Norway above the artic circle. Skype him for my mom and he was skiing yesterday. It was sunny at 9:00 pm

I've got little use for the bike shorts once I remove the pad. Typically they aren't my size when I buy them for one.

Of course, wearing some that fit under your regular pants is an option. I didn't like riding around in bike shorts with no pockets.
