I have owned an Ecolo-Cycle which is basically a mountain bike made in Taiwan and imported to Montreal Canada by Ecolocycle (distributor)
Their dealer network is quite small and the dealer I purchased this bike from provided very poor service.

I have had this bike for about a year and put approx 1000. kms on it. It has a range of average 80 kms between charges using pedal assist and I don't use the hand throttle so can't say how long it will go on battery alone.

My model is called an Alto and the only issue I've had is the LED display fogged up and eventually shut down rendering the bike non electric.

The dealers response was "don't ride the bike in the rain as it is an electric bike!!!!!!!!!!!!" needless to say I haven't gone back to them (Cuppolo's Niagara Falls)

I contacted the distributor directly and dealt with a fellow named Michel who promised to send me a replace ment LED display. This was in November last year and after repeated e-mails and a few phone calls I still don't have the part to fix the bike. Always the same excuse waiting for container to arrive.
After another call I was told the part was in and it would be couriered to me but no luck with that either.

It is so sad that companies can't live up to consumers expectations as the product is quite good and the build quality is reasonable but the follow up service sucks.

On this basis alone I would never recommend Ecolo-cycle to anyone!!!!!!!

Hi,

I know ecolocycle.. and know alot of people that had same experience.

ADVICE FROM DOC: DONT BUY ECOLOCYCLE !! The reason.. poor customers service !!!

But, On another hand.. i had a deal from a ecolocycle distributor in Quebec.. he had 4 ecolocycle ebike that had all problem and was returned from customers after only few use The distributor did not know what to do with them since they are not usable for him and he can't sale them. They all had battery or charger problem.. buy all 4 ebikes was nearly new. I bought all 4 ebikes for around 800$ and now have 3 left.. i planned on selling them in spare parts or to rebuild them with ping battery and resell them for half the original price.

Yeah, substitute it with a Cycleanalyst. Expensive tool, but worth every penny. Justin designed them to be used in the rain too. 8) You want the stand alone model. Simple to install, it goes into the wiring from the battery to the controller. It will give you waaaaay more good info that anything on a stock bike.

Once you post pics of the wiring, and better still if you can get a wiring diagram for it, we can help you figure out how to remove the crappy bike dashboard, and just wire the battery straight to the controller, with or without adding a CA.

I finally receive the display from the Ecolo cycle distributor and installed it. Unfortunately due to the long delay the battery wouldn't recharge and it only had 30 volts instead of 36v.
I took the battery to an e bike dealer authorised to service the ecolo cycle and he checked the battery and told me it was full of water and corroded badly.

There would be no warranty on the battery and a replacement was $700.00 Canadian but would sell me one for$600.00 as a good will gesture.

Needless to say I declined the offer.

There must be a cheaper alternative to this and if any one out there has suggestions please let me know. It is a standard downtube mounted pack.

One possible solution buy Doc is posted in the thread. A Ping battery.

For those who have problem with these battery, order your replacement from BMSbattery. They cost about 275$ shipped including duty fee.

I had two of these Ecolocycle left in my garage for about 3 years and i bought new battery and they work like new. One, the Optrima model work with a 37V 10Ah and the other, the ELITE model needed a 24V 15Ah battery.

These ebike are complete but not for true ride with performances.. they are just confortable and have mirror, stand, rear rack and adjustable handlebar features. ( a normal confortable uncle ebike... ) These are still sold at 1999$ !!! in some Canadian distributor ( 2013) .
I saw some used for sale at 1300$...

I bought them for 200$ each ( brand new or barely used without battery and i added a new battery and i sold them for 750$ each

The buyers had equivalent rebate of 66% and are satisfied with.
