We built a drift trike with guys from my engeneering class. We brougth an EVT 4000E electric scoot with dead sla batts for 150€, then we cutted it to make a trike, moving the rear 15kg brushed hub motor to the front fork. The thing is powered with the stock controller that is good for 120 amps at 48v (16s life). We used my old headway battery to power it and the cells are really suffering, we killed one this afternoon (0V...) The performance is still very entairtaining, the front wheel is skidding a lot under acceleration and the front tire won't last long!! We use temporary rubber wheels on the back, we should have our PVC and Go-kart wheels next weekend that should improove drifting response, it is quite hard to keep a good drift without going in a 180 ATM.

This project is a lot of fun, and a blast to ride. We usually ride it in 2min sessions because it really gives you a workout!
We are seeking sponsorship to get a better battery, something like 16s A123 20 ah could be perfect ;)
I'm just uploading the latest video, i'll post it here when it will be done!

Love it. Especially re-using the original frame.
And good video work too.

Show us more when you get the new wheels.

bloody awesome. Me and a few mates were considering getting a huffy drift trike each, just to hoon around on, and I had ideas to add some power to it. Was debating on fwd vs rwd though, because if I went rwd I could pretend it was legal by pedaling easily, and sit on the spot doing burnouts/donuts. Thoughts on the two?

But yours looks amazing, love the sheetmetal seat you have fashioned. The rear tyres dont look like much fun though, it should drift so much better when the others get there.

this is going to get huge,,, mark my words this is going to take over and you guys are the first to pioneer it. ive been watching regular drift trike videos for a few years now and it looks fun,,, cant wait till y'all get some drift wheels on the rear (seen your post on the Facebook wall also) congratulations on the successful build now you should go into business and production,,, when the word gets out the demand is going to be astronomical -Corbin

Here is my thread

We created a FB page where we will be posting pictures annd videos, we are stockpiling cool video footage ATM ;)

We removed the rubber from the wheels and the trike is now drifting quite well! We won't be able to machine our katring wheels axles until next weekend, but we already have some cool pictures :

New video, we removed the fork stops and we're now able to keep our drifts longer and get back on track when things go wrong!
