Here is the first video chronicling the progress of my dad's electric trike:

Specs for temporary setup:

+Worksman Eagle Lite CB Adult Tricycle
+24v 250w brushed electric motor (Currie?)
+Two 12v 10ah batteries wired in series = 24v 10ah
+Throttle, controller, charging port, charger, on/off switch, led indicator, fuses, and wiring harvested from a Schwinn Missile FS electric scooter.

While this setup is fun, it's not quite powerful enough for this trike, that's why it's temporary. We plan on getting a front wheel hub motor kit from www.ampedbikes.com very soon. Stay tuned for part two :)

Hi, I have a simmilar build...
I have some questions...
When riding... don´t you have feeling that trike wants to kill you? I have tried to ride a non electric trike like you have and it was very scary when you tried to turn. :)
I have build a trike with 20" rims, 36V build with power limit arounf 350W and max speed limited to 25km/h. I have 3 car batteries (36V 45Ah so 1,6kWh) in the back a magicpie in front. It is nice... I have tried 80km on one charge without any problem. 3-led battery indicator shows still half battery. :) That motor is unbelievably good in that small wheel. Also recuperation works very well and it is possible to stop without any problem on just a recuperative brake. That build is much better than ma 60V/14Ah ebike, but i have build that for my mother and she is scared of it :-( Not because it is powerful, but because it is trike and she is not uset to it.

Haha! Yes, the trike does take some getting used to, especially around corners, but I have gotten
comfortable riding it. I just lean a lot with the turn. I actually wouldn't mind going a little faster (on the straightaways that is.)
My dad has gotten used to it as well (he's 87 yrs old). He takes corners a lot slower than me though :)

That's awesome range on your magic pie setup. Almost 50 miles! I think my setup will only get me about 19. I haven't
ran it all the way down yet. I also don't have any regenerative braking.

Well, good luck with your projects! Have fun and be safe. Well, relatively safe. haha.
Thanks for your response.
