Eurobike 2014 thread

Uhu sorry LockH, don't want to correct anybody, was only to talk a bit of this concept and try to understand if these 14 Kg comes out because that motor design isn't so dense in power, or, otherwise, because it has true power....

About the "bettery" electric cycle, simply there isn't one, but a lightweight e-bike without so much mass in the wheel, having any or minimal drag while pedaled, is a great option and an incredible machine for a trained biker....with a tiny battery pack the range of a trip could be extended a lot. If that tiny pack has an High Charge rate, than you can recharge it in 30 minutes or less...and with a cheap and tiny charger.

Wow. Your right. The Bike will be on display possibly at Interbike too. Looks like the bloggers had it right. I wish I could check it out.

yeess i took a few pictures of this^^ :)
the interest at this bike was not sparsely at the moment when i was there.
What i know is that this bike is a prototype and currently not for sale. The frame was made / designd from Nicolai engineering . The motor can do 15kW continuous and it has a belt dirve (no pedals). Fork, damper, rims etc are all bicycle components. I was told the weight with this components is about 45kg. With moped components about 60kg. Top speed about 90kmh. Regarding electronics the man i was talking with could not tell me anything. I have seen a very similar looking display on another, lower powered ebike. Maybe it is Adaptto? Its only a suspicion..

the other bike with almost similar display case:

it is an s-pedelec (up to 45kmh) and has a pinion gear. the lights look really nice.

Hehe... Mon Ami, I actually *LOVE* to "make mistakes - assuming one learns from errr... unfortunate thingees.

Just "bettery" chemistry vs exploding infernal engines burning way too valuable fossily stuff. Ebike batts def. with many more places to "plug in"/recharge `round towns.

Pete's put up more pics "Eurobike Electric Bike Picture Gallery":

Hehe... Article above lead paragraph
"E-bikeshop visit Eurobike 2014 in Friedrichshafen (Germany) to view the latest line up of prototype and production run electric bikes for 2015. The show was very interesting and we tried to cover most of it in the week that we were there. The show is made up of over 1300 exhibitors from 54 different countries. Its the best place to go to see all that is evolving in the eBike world."

I didn't find a this mentioned here, and wasn't sure whether it should go under some other heading. If it should be moved, feel free.

Not sure how close the gap between the magnets and the coils are. But if it is less than a typical rim brake, they will surely run into trouble.

Here is an implementation of the always asked "why not put the magnets in the rim?" question. There wasn't too much technical detail, like whether it was an ironless coil system, and the wheel was fixed on the stand so I couldn't rotate it to get a sense of the cogging drag

And then posted by LockH just the previous page...

Anyway, sure it is one of the most R&D concept seen at the fair....I was wonder how much of the 14kg of weight, that's not so light for that kind of a bike, are concentrated on the rim....since the bike alone should easily be 7Kg and consequently the electric drive+battery, would weights right the same, and because the rotor is the rim itself, I figured out at least 2 to 3 Kg of rim...if not way more...

Yah. See "Lightweight show off e-bike concept at Eurobike"

(It's just "Lock" BTW. (Although Chinese friends use "Rock", for some reason.))

grrr.... When is the next breakthrough in battery storage coming?
Image how much more beauty and elegance with half the battery volume.

Another view of the M1-Spitzing possible here in this video, apologies if this has appeared before, was flicked to me by a riding mate today:

Now if only they'd show someone climbing a rough technical uphill section, trying to clear a rocky step-up so we can see how well that battery pack holds up. Action shots on a moto track don't exactly showcase it in its best light, I'm sure.
