Electric Vehicle Cup presents the world’s first ‘green’ motor racing series based totally around zero emission electric cars, providing the platform for sustainable motor sport.

Experience the ultimate electric vehicles, leveraging their instant torque provided by electric motors and cutting-edge battery technologies, as they compete in the racing cup at the most challenging circuits.

Meet the teams in 2010 and sample the high power delivery of these innovative green electric cars at our various launch events.

Race Series
CityEV
This class is limited to city focused, production vehicles that can be seen in use today. Consisting of single-make races, the CityEV class will feature THINK City vehicles that have been prepared to a race specification. In addition to the modified and lightened interior and exterior changes, the vehicle will be running on the latest THINK prepared motor and battery technologies.

SportsEV
This class is reserved for sports production vehicles and offers the widest range of single-make races. The current SportsEV line-up includes the technically advanced Lightning GT powered by four in-wheel motors and utilising the latest NanoSafeâ„¢ batteries. Drawing on their rich racing pedigree, Ginetta and Westfield Sportscars present their latest electric vehicle development in the form of the Ginetta G50EV and Westfield iRACER.

PrototypeEV
The PrototypeEV class follows a time-trial format allowing for the demonstration of the latest non-production electric vehicles to set competitive lap-times on the most challenging circuits. With little design limitations and no weight or power limits, this class offers an exciting showcase for electric vehicles

2011 RACING CUP
In 2011 EV Cup is planning a six-race programme of events at top motor racing circuits in the UK and main land Europe, working with the national and world-wide governing bodies to establish a unique new set of rules for electric cars with particular emphasis on safety.

All racing to be in association with FIA/MSA.

There appear to be very few rules or regulations about the series on the site. What defines a sports car versus a prototype? The sports cars do not appear to be readily available production models, merely prototypes at this stage. Have any been sold? Is a homologation certificate required? Are there length, width, ground clearance, cockpit size and weight maxima and minima? How about tyres? Would a Tesla qualify or do manufacturers have to register.

The site would be greatly enhanced in my view, especially as the series are likely to catch the interest of 'Techies' if there were more specific information available. Perhaps it might inspire some of us here on the site to get involved as with TTXGP.

Hope this helps

...maybe if you wrote them directly :)
Yah, agree, a lot of this sounds "early daze" for the EV classifications they note... They list the United Arab Emirates as "Partner"... So maybe they have deep pockets and can carry this off but it's funny to think of EVs being sponsored by mid-east oil profits
