EV Global EBIKE Builds and Remodels

yes.. the head tube is on my list too... I have an old triple clamp fork knocking around but the head tube is a little long....and a black front wheel.

Ok so I decided I wanted to use my trusty old 20s 18650 pack on this bike so I can use the Multi stars mainly on my Genesis build. So I found a great deal on a 72v 32a controller only $40 shipped so this will let me do exactly that!

Controller came in! Its a tad bit bigger than i expected it to be, but it was only $40. Now i have to try and get it wired up and nothing is labeled. I think i know what wires the halls are, just have to find the throttle wires and hopefully it will work right out of the gate!

That's a beater of a controller haha but as long as it works; your latest image doesn't seem to be working.

This darn controller is even bigger than the old one... It doesn't fit in the spot I need it too GRRRR

So I slapped on some front brakes and a rear fender just because I had nothing else to do

Looks like I lost some parts to my Avid disc calipers so im using this generic one for now

Open it up; lots of times the boards are way shorter than the cases, so you could trim the case (with a hacksaw if you have to, with the guts removed first to prevent metal shavings getting in there).

I have at least one controller that's almost two inches longer than it has to be (even given the power levels/waste heat it is meant to deal with).

its a full board unfortunately. Looks like I can shave off a little under a 1/4" on the far side and not even 1/8" on cable exit side..

Not sure if this is worth doing, I have it all pulled apart now. Also checked the case length of my old controller and it is exactly the same, but with the plastic end caps this one is longer...

Different shape and style the metal ones do not cover on this center piece. and if I try to use entire body from other controller I have to drill heat sink holes for it, not the end of the world...

Finally got a pick of how much room is available in the controller, not too much sadly...I will still probably chop it down soon, just waiting to borrow my friends chop saw to get a clean cut.

Ended up just hack sawing the controller to make it fit the bike. Only had to take a tiny sliver out of it!

Threw the whole thing together and started my temp wiring with wire nuts, once I figure the combo ill make better connections.

Here is a video of the first attempt! It worked! Now I need rear brakes ASAP...

Going to be reviving this old dead thread! I'm doing the exact same thing I did 10 years ago...giving the EVG Ebike a makeover and making a sweet commuter bike!

Got this gem off Facebook marketplace for an OK deal...I would have preferred a LE edition but I'll settle for this ugly red color :ROFLMAO: I now certainly have the brightest Ebike in town!

Either way I threw a bunch of old parts I had kicking around onto this bike all within a 48 Hour period over the weekend when it was raining the entire time. And it came out pretty good considering I did not spend a dime on it other than the bike purchase.

A couple of pics from yesterdays ride! I really like being able to set the cruise control at about 15mph and just cruise around the small lake roads with no hands, makes for an enjoyable ride

I reused the EVG seat post and It was the only issue I had on this ride, no matter how hard I tighten the bolt the seat moves position since the knurls on the steel are just worn out...I will be buying a new seat post soon now

The 12s Lipo 12ah battery does surprising well for just riding around town or to a nearby town so if i do build a custom battery for this bike I will likely use some cells from packs I have lying around instead of wasting money

still need to fix or lengthen the kickstand so that is annoying also not being able to get off the bike unless I have somewhere to balance it
