many years have passed, and tomorrow I plan on getting these lithium batteries... would this be a good or bad idea? I will change the charger as well. anyone know if I can bypass the governor on the original controller?Lithium battery.jpgScreenshot_20250503_145830_Chrome.jpg

Is 60 amps enough for your scooter?

You haven't taken the time to tell us what you have now. There is a picture of the controller - thanks - and that does say 128W max. That doesn't decide what your scooter uses.

Posting good pictures of the previous battery with the labels showing clearly would permit investigation about what was adequate before.

G'day mates.
I tried 4x40Ah LiFe in my EVT 168. I didn't do my homework. The batts I got only had max, or burst current of 80A for up to 10 seconds. More than that when accelerating hard & I was on an E scoot without any E until the BMS reset.
Your spec sheet shows 160A max, hopefully that's enough.
Since you're looking at replacing SLA with LiFe, I'm guessing you have a brushed motor. AFAIK, there were 2 versions of controller; 45km/h (grey main cable) & 60/h (black main cable)
I've opened both but can't find a physical difference. EVT / Chroma group won't supply any info regarding S/W.
If you have any better luck, please, please share!

I remember somebody replaced the clock crystal on the board with a faster one to overcome the speed limiter.

So here’s an update. I ended up buying 2 lithium battery’s from a 2020 bmw i3 pictured here. I need the bms, the charger and the adapters to fit the Anderson connectors and I’m set.

What are the specs of the i3 batteries? What did it cost? Will extensive work be required to adapt it into your moped?

I actually dont have the specs. I brought the batteries 2 my e scooter guy, he said its BMW proprietary and cant mess with it, same as the lithium battery manufacturer I approached. I returned the battery as I am not a pro and did not want to start on something I couldn't finish. The guys at ElectricMotorSport dot com said I could have used the EMUS BMS MINI 3 and to charge I could have used ELCON 1.8KW HK-H CAN UHF CHARGER or ELCON HK-MF 4TH GENERATION SERIES 3.3KW CHARGERS. I just got discouraged... so stayed with NEW Lead Acid ones. If anyone wants to know, they could make the battery (only one) to spec and it would be +- $1500 Canadian plus 100 for the charger plus 15% tax. so $1330USD from a company called SHOKK based in Laval, Quebec.
thanks for the help guys,
