Screen Shot 2015-07-01 at 19.22.15.jpgThis is my first real build. Have a kit from TorqueBoards but the enclosure was bulky and lacking.

So this is my $20 mounting and enclosure solution. Can get the 3" inch ABS pipe(about 5mm thick) and alum corner molding at any Home Depot etc.

I am using some threaded inserts screwed into the alum frame. The ABS has a hole drilled for a bolt to screw into the insert. Min 2 and maybe 3 knurled 8-32 screws to connect to the frame.

I thought about magnets to hold the enclosure but have my doubts.

To cut the ABS I used a Rotozip to slice it. I clamped the tube down to a bench and just slid the rotozip along the counter and easy straight cut. Can shim it up or down for more or less room inside. I went a little past halfway.

Used a power hack saw with finer blade to cut notch in ABS and Alum frame. Drilled holes in the alum for truck bolts.

37 inch Jet Pilot deck
DIYelectric single paris mount
5065 200kv motor
TB's 12s ESC
15/44 gearing
LED push switch mounted of deck.
2 x 4s = 8s zippy flightmax 5ah x 2
Wiiceiver and Nunchuk. Drop free if a rubber band is holding the dongle down tight.
Ekick light
90mm Big Foot Abec clones

Any tips to refine it? I ordered some knurled thumbscrews for holding the enclosure.

Also will definitely find higher quality rubber bands etc.

Currently weighs just a tick over 15 pounds.. 16.8 kg.

If mounted well it would make a good grind surface and cheap and easy to replace.

That's a great enclosure solution. Simple and works well. Also should take a fair bit of punishment and easy to replace! Nice job!

What's your range on 5000mAh, have you tested it yet? Looks like a great setup and hope it's running well for you!!

Si33py thanks!

I can get max of about 12 miles with those two 4s 5ah batteries.

That is ~16.5v down to ~14v for the pack

Usually I just run it down to around 14.5 to 15v and swap about 8 miles but the range is there if I need it..

My terrain here is very flat and smooth so it helps for range.

Palm Springs California area.

I like the build! The enclosure looks good. You could probable buy some lightweight angle iron and mount that to the board on each side of your electronics, then through the side of the pvc fasten the cover to the angle iron. I'm in Santa Ana. We should ride sometime!

Haha...my hometown! Just curious, whats your weight? I wish I could get that kind mileage out of my amp-hours.

It's so flat here it really helps.

I am about 160#'s

Thanks Psychotiller

I am using thumbscrews thru the PVC and that threads into the insert on the alum rails.

At this point I don't have any holes or screws into the board. It's all held down by the truck bolts.

It holds fine but wonder if there is something quicker and more elegant like magnets or spring loaded pins.

I have thought about attaching the alum to the board but under flex I think that might cause some damage and wear.

Would be interesting if SoCal riders converged on some sort of meetup. People could check out others designs and evaluate how they perform.

Must be lots of lurkers on here with sick builds.

Might be fun to have some sort of autocross or drag racing event.

Yeah that's what I imagined with the angle iron. I'm sure it's fine the way you have it.
I always pass this go cart course off the 405 with big banked turns...Looks like it would be perfect for all of us. Wonder if they's let us rent the track for an evening?
I've been getting together with Pediglide here and there to ride, as well as a few buddies in the OC.

If you have any favorite spots let us know and we'll head that way sometime.

About 10 years a bunch of us inline skater's rented a go cart track in Boulder Colorado. The one up by the bus stop (notorious go go bar). Unfortunately all the rubber from the carts make it poor grip and it was really hard to skate.

Maybe a dual diagonal board would do well but I think the one or dual rear drives would fish tail a lot.

This boosted video from Austin Texas gets me psyched to do some wall riding.

That's why I spend so much time riding in the Santa Ana Riverbed! 20 foot walls

Hey, I'm in SoCal too! CSN Nice set up, buy the way. I still haven't found an 8s set-up that works reliably for me. Congrats!
