(Orono, ME) Fairly Bike Manufacturing Co. received two prestigious design and innovation awards at the Taipei Cycle Show today. This year Fairly Bike presented two products at the Taipei Cycle d&I Awards 2012 contest: one Stromer USA version, and one Flow ebike. Fortunately both Stromer USA version and Flow won the award along with the rest of 73 winners among 206 contestants.

Even more exciting is that the Flow ebike won the Taipei Cycle Design and Innovation Gold Award. Only 5 Gold awards were presented by the host at the Taipei Cycle Show Award Presentation ceremony on March 7, 2012.

The new TAIPEI CYCLE design & innovation awards 2012: Cycling has had a longstanding tradition, not only in Germany, but also in many other countries, and it needs contemporary design solutions.

This new award is hosted by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taiwan Bicycle Exporters' Association (TBEA) and is organized by iF International Forum Design GmbH, under the 'organized by iF' label. We are certain that, with this new award, we can offer an excellent platform for manufacturers, designers, distributors, importers and retailers from the international bicycle industry.

No idea whether this latest iteration includes all of the "smart battery" stuff Droux was talking about in 2010...

Lock

Cool idea, on a nice bike you take the seat when you lock it. In this case you take the battery and the seat. It also avoids the problem created by behind the steat tube mounts. Those often end up too long to fit on a bus bike rack.

But personaly, I'd rather just see the battery mounted, removable but lockable, in the downtube area.
